Section 3
Aims and Objectives
The Trust’s aims and objectives in providing the regulated activities through registered locations
shown in section 4 of this statement of purpose are as follows:
1. To improve service quality and productivity – through ensuring services we provide to the London
boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest, south west Essex across
Brentwood, Basildon and Thurrock are high quality and deliver effective care and enable more people
to be cared for at home
2. To deliver service transformation and improve local environments - through redesigning services to
respond to spending cuts by being innovative in transforming the services we provide, working jointly
with partner organisations and ensuring we have the right facilities to deliver our services and where
possible, find ways to rationalise the use of estate to maximise value for money and reduce overhead
costs
3. To deliver improvements on financial and performance targets – through demonstrating to our
commissioners our ability to deliver against agreed targets and delivery of high quality, effective

services
4. To deliver new business opportunities – through identifying core versus non-core business, enabling
the use of intelligent data/information to establish the quality of the services we provide and making
decisions on services to grow and those which we may have merits in discontinuing
5. To improve capability and capacity – through ensuring the right capacity and capability exists within
the organisation to support high quality service delivery and taking account of service solution
required to care for more patients in the community and reducing the requirement for acute hospital
care
6. To implement the informatics strategy – through supporting the delivery of more care being
delivered in the community with the right technology available to staff, enabling clinicians and teams
to communicate effectively with colleagues across services and organisational boundaries
Section 4
