Call (301) 722-5970 to book your table today! Notice of Temple Election Meeting The Annual Election Meeting will take place at the Temple on Wednesday the 7th of December 2016 at 8:00pm. The election of officers for 2017 will be held Wednesday, Dec 7 at the Temple. We will start right after the 8:00pm drawing for Ace of Clubs. We will also have our Unit Head meeting at 7:00pm that evening in the Fez Mecca Room. Ali Ghan’s famous Egg Nog party will be Dec 16, 2016 in the Sultan Bar, Party starts at 7:00pm. The Children’s Christmas Party will be Dec 18, 2016 at 2:00pm. We are doing things a little different this year, it is still free to attend but you must call in to reserve your tickets. We need the information to be able to provide the age and gender appropriate gifts. This will be a great event! A special thank you to the Desert Legion for helping make this event possible. Chief Rabban Bill Duvall has a wonderful evening planned for New Year’s Eve. The Chinese Bandits will be performing and I’m sure we will dance the new year in. The Annual Election Meeting will take place at the Temple on Wednesday the 7th of December 2016 at 8:00pm. In accordance to Article 25, Section 325.11 Election Regulations, paragraph (c) “Notice”, of the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Annotations & Appendix of Forms of Shriners International, please take notice of the following: Section 325.11 Election Regulations. (a) Electioneering. A Candidate for an elected office in a Shrine Temple may print, publish, and circulate during the year he is seeking the elected office, a resume consisting of his educational background, his vocational history, and his Masonic and Shrine record. Except as provided in the prior sentence, the printing, publication, circulating or distribution of resolutions, letters, telegrams, tickets, email or other devices, by a unit, club, Noble or group of Nobles, suggesting, recommending, op-posing, or containing the names of proposed candidates for office in the temple is prohibited. (b) Expenditures Prohibited. The Expenditure of money for gifts, favors, or entertainment on behalf of a candidate for elected office is prohibited. (c) Violation. For any violation of (a) or (b), the Imperial Potentate may suspend any offending Noble, and he may declare the elections of the officers’ void and order a new election. (d) Notice. Whitaker 5 6 The Past Masters Unit held their regular stated meeting on November 13th at 1:00pm in the Shrine’s Mecca Room following the Sunday Brunch at 12:00pm. Topics for discussion were the Christmas Party on Sunday, December 4th in the Shrine’s Mecca Room with cocktails at 2:00pm and a Turkey Dinner at 2:30pm with entertainment by the Lady Birds to follow. Reservations must be sent. David Hall—Vice President, was elected to be installed as President for 2017, with now President Joseph Graham filling in until David is well enough to assume the obligation of the office. A card was sent to him wishing him well and for a speedy recovery. We also voted on reinstating dues cards. The Unit Heads report was given by Joe with update on the Pavilion. A bus trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in October 2017 was reported on by Tammy Mullenax and is proceeding nicely. Also reported on was the 2017 Alaska Cruise with Chief Rabban Bill and Lady Darcy DuVall. Lodge reports: Potomac Lodge 100 installation of new officers to be held January 14, 2017 at 10:00am and Queen City Lodge at 2:00pm with Sam Lane installed as Master. On Sunday, January 15, 2017 Kemp Lodge in Mount Savage will hold their installation at 2:00pm with Dwayne Hunt as Master. The Past Masters Unit and I would like to send a warm “welcome” to the outgoing Past Masters to join the Past Masters Unit of the Ali Ghan Shrine. Respectfully Submitted, Pres. At our last meeting we had to change date because of some unforeseen problems! You still must reserve and pay deposit to be able to come and ladies must reserve to get Christmas Gifts! Our Next year’s Gun Bash will be July 15th at Picnic Grounds. Please mark your calendars! Our next Famous Roast Beef Dinner Will be on Monday March 27th 2017. Joseph Graham Jr. Past Masters Unit 7 8 To all Railroad Unit Nobles and Ladies, Thanks again for everyone’s help with another successful spaghetti dinner season in 2016. These continued successes started many years ago by noble Harry Hartman and Larry Lee have been very instrumental in the success of the Railroad Unit and helping us to donate to Shrine hospitals and Ali Ghan Temple. I would also like thank the many nobles and patrons who continue to enjoy the dinners as it has become not only a place to have a good dinner but enjoy the social function as well. We hope to see you again starting in April, 2017. As fall winds down and we have Thanksgiving behind us, I hope everyone had a nice time with family and ate a lot of turkey. We now look forward to the Christmas holidays and old man winter. On that note we are planning our annual Christmas dinner and party Saturday, December 3rd starting with a social at the Railroad Unit building around 5pm and then dinner at the Temple ballroom at 7pm.
