the Blast Off Kid
JUMP! STAMP! CLAP!
(FOR TWO OR MORE PLAYERS)
The object of this game is for players to
“show” a 3-digit number using their bodies.
rint page 3 with the place-value
P
charts. Give a copy to each player.
xplain that each player will “show”
E
a 3-digit number by following the
directions below.
JUMP to show how many hundreds!
STAMP to show how many tens!
CLAP to show how many ones!
Write each player’s name on a slip of paper and put the names in a
container. Pick a name. That person is the leader for the first round.
NOW SHOW SOME NUMBERS!
• The leader thinks of a number with hundreds, tens, and ones. Then the leader
jumps, stamps, and claps out the number. The leader should first jump the
hundreds, then stamp the tens, and finally clap the ones.
• The other players write the number on a place-value chart. When everyone

has written a number, players share their answers. Did everyone write the
correct number?
Now choose another name from the hat to find the next leader. The new leader
repeats the steps above. Continue the game until all the place-value charts are
completed.
Now make some noise. Jump, stamp, and clap to show 444!

HIGH ROLLERS!
Print page 3 with the place-value charts. Each player gets a copy.
You also need a number cube or a die.
You are going to see how great a number you can make.
RECORD YOUR NUMBERS!
• One player rolls the number cube and calls out the number rolled.
• The other players record the number in any place (the hundreds, tens, or
ones) on the first place-value chart. Once players write the number, they
cannot move or change it.
• The player with the number cube repeats this procedure two more
times, allowing the other players to complete the first place-value chart.
• Now compare the numbers you recorded. Who has the greatest
number? How can you tell?
The player with the greatest number wins the
round and gets to roll the number cube for
the next round. In case of a tie, take turns!
Continue until you complete all the placevalue charts.

What is the greatest number any player
recorded? Which number recorded is closest
to 300? to 450? to 600?
