It’s almost that time again—time to start thinking band! This is going to be a very unique and exciting year for you
9th grade band students. I hope you are having a great summer and are looking forward to the fall.
Jaguar Band members should:
1. TURN IN ALL FEES AND FORMS ON TIME. $200.00 (total band fees) and the Permission and Medical
Release Form are due on the 1st DAY OF SCHOOL. UNIFORMS AND T-SHIRTS WILL NOT BE HANDED
OUT UNTIL FEES ARE PAID.
2. In order to participate in the band program this year, the Drug Testing Consent Form MUST be on file. This
directive is mandatory through the Madison County School Board.
3. BE PREPARED FOR REHEARSALS DURING BAND CLASS. Bring a change of clothes with you to school
including tennis shoes (no flip-flops), shorts and t-shirts. Students will be given time to change clothes before
and after rehearsal.
4. PAY ATTENTION TO DATES & TIMES!
5. BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT THE 1ST DAY OF SCHOOL! Flip Folders Lyres will be provided to you as part of
your band fee.
Marching Band is ALWAYS hot.
If you are accustomed to being outside, you should prepare for band rehearsals by:
1. Getting outside some during the day
2. Start running or walking—get some exercise
3. BE PREPARED TO SWEAT! 9TH GRADE BAND MEETS 2ND BLOCK (10:06-11:40), SO IT IS VERY HOT
OUTSIDE!
4. Drinking plenty of liquids—bring some water to marching band class.
5. Make sure you eat breakfast every day before coming to school!
6. Bring sunscreen!
You will be provided a pair of band or guard shoes after school starts as part of your band fee. We will designate a
day for this to occur. A representative will be here to size the shoes. Also, as part of your band fee you will be
issued a practice t-shirt and shorts. You will also receive a Rosa Scott band fall t-shirt.
