The Thomas Edison International Fellowship: Global Electric Utility Leadership Program
Program Value and Commitment:
Thomas Edison captured the spirit of innovation and applied it to business. Both innovation and
execution are necessary to propel a utility, the industry and society forward. Toward this end, the Global
Utility Leaders Program, through the Thomas Edison International Fellowship, was created to promote
opportunities for participants in the programs to further knowledge and expertise in operational and
other areas that are critical to managing electric utilities.
The Program provides opportunities for executives within the electric utility industry who are working
on operational, economic, environmental, and social challenges at their regional levels to meet with
counterparts across the U.S. and examine policies that have been successfully implemented to address
similar needs. It will introduce policy leaders to innovative strategies and equip them with the
information, tools, and connections necessary for implementation.
The Thomas Edison International Fellowship supports the development of the next generation of global
utility leaders and provides them with knowledge to be transferred back to regional utilities around the
world.
The goal of the Global Utility Leaders Program is to provide appropriate resources to utility executive
Fellows in order to tackle large systemic issues that can be best addressed through a network of
businesses solving issues together.
The Next Generation Electric Utility Leaders Program:
 Focuses on up and coming executive and mid-level management with an emphasis on
developing a critical and practical understanding of the policy and business operations within
the electric power industry.
 Offers support, knowledge and connections in the U.S. electric power industry.
 Drives the right resources toward utility Fellows best positioned to grow their companies, as
tomorrow’s industry solutions will be created by electric utilities vested in compelling
leadership.
 Generates opportunities for utility Fellows to tap into the Fellowship Program’s resources and
partners. These experts, institutions and resources will help Fellows leverage their knowledge
and research, increase their professional potential and positively impact the value of their
