Parashat B’resheet ‫בראשית‬ "in the beginning"
Torah ~ Gen. 1:16:8︱Haftarah ~ Isa. 42:543:11︱Brit Chadashah ~ John 1:114; Rev. 1:8
Bible Codes
The Bible is full of codes and mysteries. One of the most interesting codes is found in the first five books of our Bible.
In the books of Genesis and Exodus, if we count every 50th Hebrew letter it spells out the word ‫רה‬
ָ ‫תּוֹ‬ (Torah). In
Leviticus, if we count every 7th Hebrew letter it spells out the personal Name of God, ‫הוָה‬
ֹ ְ‫י‬ (Yehovah or Yahweh). In the
books of Numbers and Deuteronomy, if we count every 50th Hebrew letter it spells out the word “Torah” backwards. It is
as if Genesis and Exodus are pointing forward to Leviticus where the Name of God is spelled, but Numbers and
Deuteronomy is pointing backwards to the book of Leviticus where the Name of God is spelled.
The book of Leviticus is all about the sacrificial system, which is a picture of Yeshua. So the entire books of the Torah is
centered around “Yeshua”.
In the Beginning
The Hebrew name for our first Torah portion reading and the first book of the Bible is B'resheet. It comes from the first
word of the book in the Hebrew text. Within the Hebrew letters of the word B’resheet is “‫ראש‬ or Rosh”, which means
“head”. The English name Genesis comes from the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible. Genesis means
"the origin of something or formation of something."
Rev. 1:8 ~ “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is
to come, the Almighty.” NKJV
Rev. 1:11 ~ “I am Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last,” KJV
The Trinity
Gen. 1:12 ~ The trinity is in the first two verses of the Bible. The Hebrew word Elohim (God) is plural, meaning more
than one, made up of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
1 John 5:7 ~ “For there are three, which bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the holy Ghost: and these three
are one.” Geneva Bible
Gen. 1:26 ~ Here also we see the trinity with the word “us”.
Gen. 3:22 ~ Again we see the trinity with the word “Us”.
Matt. 1:2223 ~ Yeshua is called “Emmanuel”, which means “God with us”.
Starting of our Days
Gen. 1:5 ~ God considered a day as starting with the evening (sunset) and then the next morning.
Lev. 23:32 ~ We are to fast on Yom Kippur from “evening to evening”.
The Shabbat
Gen. 2:13 ~ Here we see God giving the Shabbat to all of mankind, before the Law was given at Mt. Sinai.
Exo. 20:811 ~ The Sabbath commandment
The coming of Yeshua
Gen. 3:15 ~ The first prophecy of the coming of Yeshua.
Gen. 3:21 ~ The first blood was shed for an animal sacrifice, to cover Adam and Eve’s sin.
Aliyah to the Torah
B’resheet 09/28/13
Torah ~ Genesis 1:12 Geneva Bible
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the deep, and the Spirit of
God moved upon the waters.
Haftarah ~ Isaiah 42:56 NKJV
5 Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth
the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to
those who walk on it:
6 “I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and
give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,
Brit Chadashah ~ John 1:13 KJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
