THE NINTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's
wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything
that is your neighbor's Ex 20:17.
Every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery
with her in his heart. Mt 5:28.
2514 St. John distinguishes three kinds of covetousness or concupiscence: lust of the flesh,
lust of the eyes, and pride of life. In the Catholic catechetical tradition, the ninth
commandment forbids carnal concupiscence.
2516 Because man is a composite being, spirit and body, there already exists a certain
tension in him; a certain struggle of tendencies between "spirit" and "flesh" develops. But in
fact this struggle belongs to the heritage of sin. It is a consequence of sin and at the same
time a confirmation of it. It is part of the daily experience of the spiritual battle:

continued from page 1:
I. Purification of the Heart
2517 The heart is the seat of moral personality: "Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder,
adultery, fornication...." Mt 15,19. The struggle against carnal covetousness entails purifying
the heart and practicing temperance: Remain simple and innocent, and you will be like little children who
do not know the evil that destroys man's life.
II. The Battle for Purity
2520 Baptism confers on its recipient the grace of purification from all sins. But the
baptized must continue to struggle against concupiscence of the flesh and disordered
desires. With God's grace he will prevail
- by the virtue and gift of chastity, for chastity lets us love with upright and undivided
heart;
- by purity of intention which consists in seeking the true end of man: with simplicity of
vision, the baptized person seeks to find and to fulfill God's will in everything; Rom 12:2;
Col 1:10
- by purity of vision, external and internal; by discipline of feelings and imagination; by
refusing all complicity in impure thoughts that incline us to turn aside from the path of
God's commandments: "Appearance arouses yearning in fools" Wis. 15:5
- by prayer:
I thought that continence arose from one's own powers, which I did not recognize in
myself. I was foolish enough not to know . . . that no one can be continent unless you
grant it. For you would surely have granted it if my inner groaning had reached your ears
and I with firm faith had cast my cares on you.
2521 Purity requires modesty (…) Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It
means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose
sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them
in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity.
THANK YOU!!
I would like to thank everybody who joined the Dedication and Blessing of St. Hedwig
Pastoral Center. Thank you also goes to Ay Caramba Inc. which is owned by Gail, Cathy and
Janie from our Parish for donating and serving the delicious homemade cakes and cookies. Same
holds true to Einstein Bagel and Coffee Store for serving coffee for free.
My sincere gratefulness to the members of the PPC who worked so hard to make the occasion
possible and the Sponsors who accepted the honor of witnessing of another milestone of our
parish history. We have reached our vision of making our parishioners, families and friends
aware of our spiritual ministries, services and projects. The Open House was
a big tool of showcasing our ministries for everybody to avail.
May God continue to shower our parish with the grace of collaboration and
stewardship among each other to build a community of One Body of Christ.
Fr. Stan, CR

Dear Parents,
Our Music Ministry would like to invite all children age 6 years old and up to join our
Children's Choir. The Choir will sing every first Sunday of the month during a special
Family Mass, when Readings, the Responsorial Psalm and other music settings will be
provided by children. During practices children will have a chance to better understand
the meaning of the Liturgy and deepen their faith by active participation in the Holy
Mass. This is also a good opportunity to make more friends and
be a part of special events organized by our Parish such as
Workshops, Christmas play, Caroling, etc. For more information
please talk to our Music Director Mrs. Maryna Shutovich after
each Sunday Mass or call our office at 773 486 1660.
OCTOBER THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
Say the Rosary every day…
Pray, pray a lot and offer sacrifices for
sinners...
I'm Our Lady of the Rosary.
Only I will be able to help you.
...In the end My Immaculate Heart will
triumph."
Our Lady at Fatima
T he word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". Our Lady has revealed
to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving
her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a
crown of roses. The rose is the queen of flowers, and so the Rosary is
the rose of all devotions and it is therefore the most important one.
The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because within it
lays the awesome story of our salvation. With the Rosary in fact we
meditate the mysteries of joy, of sorrow and the glory of Jesus and
Mary. It's a simple prayer, humble so much like Mary. It's a prayer
we can all say together with Her, the Mother of God. With the Hail
Mary we invite Her to pray for us. Our Lady always grants our
request. She joins Her prayer to ours. Therefore it becomes ever
more useful, because what Mary asks She always receives, Jesus can
never say no to whatever His Mother asks for.
The Venerable Holy Father John Paul II
Welcome to recitation of the rosary every day during
morning prayers at 7:15 am and at 6:15 pm. Also every
Saturday at 4:15 pm at the Grotto.

decide ir a trabajar. Rectificar sí que cuesta, porque
significa humillarse, aplastar la soberbia, la arrogancia y la
vanidad.
rectificar nuestras decisiones mal tomadas, nuestra
desobediencia y damos ¡Gracias, a Dios!
Elia Silva

pożądliwości: pożądliwość ciała, pożądliwość oczu i pychę życia.
Zgodnie z katolicką tradycją katechizmową dziewiąte przykazanie
zakazuje pożądania cielesnego;
Oczyszczenie serca
2517 Serce jest siedzibą moralnego wymiaru osobowości: "Z
serca... pochodzą złe myśli, zabójstwa, cudzołóstwa, czyny
nierządne" (Mt 15, 19). Walka z pożądliwością cielesną domaga się
oczyszczenia serca i praktykowania umiarkowania: Zachowaj
2520 Chrzest udziela temu, kto go przyjmuje, łaski oczyszczenia ze
wszystkich grzechów. Ochrzczony powinien jednak nadal walczyć
z pożądaniem ciała i z nieuporządkowanymi pożądliwościami. Za
pomocą łaski Bożej osiąga to oczyszczenie:
- przez cnotę i dar czystości, ponieważ czystość pozwala miłować
sercem prawym i niepodzielnym;
Bożą i pełnić ją we wszystkim ;
- przez czystość spojrzenia, zewnętrznego i wewnętrznego; przez
czuwanie nad uczuciami i wyobraźnią, przez odrzucenie
jakiegokolwiek upodobania w myślach nieczystych, które skłaniają
do odejścia z drogi Bożych przykazań: "Widok roznamiętnia
głupich" (Mdr 15, 5);
gdybym z głębi serca wołał do Ciebie i gdybym miał wiarę
dostatecznie mocną, by moje troski Tobie powierzyc..
Czystość domaga się wstydliwości.(...) Wstydliwość chroni
intymność osoby. Polega ona na odmowie odsłaniania tego, co
powinno pozostać zakryte. Wstydliwość jest związana z czystością,
świadczy o jej delikatności. Kieruje ona spojrzeniami i gestami,
choroby. Proszę was w imeniu Andrzeja, taty Mikołaja oraz brata
Marcina o żywą modlitwę w intencji Mikołaja.
