BTEP provides Native Speaking Spanish Teachers from the
Americas to enhance Global Language and Cultural Learning
The Bilingual Teachers Exchange Program (BTEP) is an innovative teacher
exchange program that partners with top universities in Latin America to recruit,
train, and provide schools with the best native speaking and cultural sensitive
bilingual Spanish teachers. The program is a one stop source for your teaching
needs and also offers a simple and cost effective solution.
Through BTEP's flexible procurement management process, schools are able to
secure certified bilingual teachers (with at least 1 year of classroom experience),
and/or teaching assistants with at least 2 years of classroom experience. Schools
are able to staff their global language needs without the challenges of long and
costly recruitment efforts. BTEP teachers are thoroughly screened and meet all
credentialing and background clearance required by state/school. All BTEP
teachers must also have educational degrees and certifications reviewed by an
independent agency approved by the state.

My experience as a Spanish teacher at J. C.
Nalle Elementary School in Washington, DC
Teaching Spanish at Aiton Elementary in
Washington, DC gave me the opportunity to overcome
challenges and to grow professionally. Many students at Aiton ES
are impacted by family and social situations that contribute to their
behavior in the classroom. I believe that the best way to improve
classroom behavior is to seek additional classroom management
training. I believe this training will be critical and useful in helping
me improve how I manage my students, and improve outcomes.
J. C. Nalle is a DC public school located in a vulnerable area
of Washington DC with a 98% African American student population. I found
it difficult to approach my students based on some assumptions they had
about the Spanish language. For example many thought everyone who
spoke Spanish was Mexican, others would say that African American people
did not speak Spanish. These experiences forced me to reorganize my
curriculum so that I would teach them not only Spanish, but also Latin
American culture. Today, I am able to say that holistic approach is giving better
results, and also helped improve behavioral issues in 70% of my classes.
