The Rationing Commission administered rationing and enforced it

The Rationing Commission administered rationing and enforced it with the use of
coupons for meat, butter, sugar, tea and clothing. Rationed items could only be supplied
when they were exchanged for coupons. After January 1944, in the case of meat, adults
were each permitted 2 1/4 lbs (just under 1-kilogram) of meat per week.
