*Water amounts were calculated based on how many runners we have and how many times they may
pass your station.
How to set up:
Set up the table. Make Gatorade in cooler provided. You probably won’t need to make more than one
coolers worth during the event. Start filling cups with water and other cups with Gatorade. They do not
need to be filled all the way to the top. Set up your trash container at least 100 feet past your station,
off to the right hand side of the course.
During the race:
Be ready for racers by filling many cups in advance.
Stand off of the runners’ path and hold cups/nutrition out to them at arm’s length. Call out what you
are holding. “Water” or “Gatorade”, etc.
Keep area cleaned up as much as possible. Clean as you go.
Encourage racers by saying positive things and SMILE. Have super amounts of fun!!
Take pictures of yourselves and the racers!!
If you think you are going to run out of something, call 3W Staff BEFORE you run out and keep calling
until you get ahold of someone.
How to tear down:
The bike sweep will come behind the final racer and tell you that the person is the last one. Then you
should clean up following these directions.
Empty any reusable 2 gallon or 5 gallon coolers. Fold down the table. Clean up ALL trash and TIE OFF
the trash bag. Pick up nearby cones and stack them neatly. Pick up nearby course marking signs and
pile them neatly (in a way that the wind will not blow them away. SAVE unopened, unused gallons of
water and other unused product. Bring as many items as you can back to the expo area and report to a
Staff member. Depending on the hours of your ‘shift’, you might be released to go cheer for runners, or
you may be reassigned to the finish line area as needed until the end of your volunteer shift. ** IN
UNIQUE SCENARIOS YOU WILL GO DIRECTLY TO ANOTHER WATER STATION
