All teams entering the competition must be
affiliated to the Essex County Cricket Board
through the District Board structure.
Safety reasons a bowl out is not possible, the
result will be decided by the toss of a coin in
liaison with an ECCB representative.
In the Zonal stages should teams finish level on
points then highest net run rate shall decide
final positions (if teams finish level on run rate
the result of the match/es between those
teams shall be the deciding factor).
In order to be eligible to play in the Peter
Coe Cup: Boys must be born on or after 1st
September 2004 and Girls on or after 1st
September 2003. Those players who do not
meet this criteria are not eligible to play in
the competition.
Net run rates will be based on the number of
runs per over scored (for) minus runs per over
(against). Sides bowled out within their allotted
overs will however have their full over
allocation, 25 unless bad weather intervenes.
The deciding factor in terms of qualification for
the knock out stages will be based on the net
run rate over all zonal games.
Each Club to pay an Entry Fee of £215.00. If a
team fulfils all zonal fixtures they will have
£150.00 refunded.
A player may represent only one team in the
competition. Any team knowingly including
an ineligible player in a match shall be
automatically expelled from the
competition.

Players in the competition must be bona-fide
paid up members of the team/club they
represent.

Zonal groups will be split into South (Wade)
and North (Gould) regions to limit travel
times

All zonal matches & quarter finals games
shall be of 25 overs per side, with one day
only for completion. Semi-Finals and Final
shall be of 30 overs a side. No declarations
are permitted in the Peter Coe Cup
competition. In all zonal fixtures, 4 points
awarded for a win, nil points for a loss, 2
points each for a tied match and 2 points
each for an abandoned game. However, if a
tied match occurs in the Semi-Finals or Final
the winner will be in this order – the team
losing fewer wickets, scores after 15 overs or
scores after 10 overs.
In the event of a match being abandoned
with the team batting second having
completed 15 overs or more, the match will
be decided by run rate over the completed
1st innings. (For example: 125 for 7 in 25
overs requires 76 off 15 overs to win).
If, in the opinion of the umpires, in zonal,
quarter-final, semi-final and final matches,
there being bad weather, it is not possible for
the team batting second to complete 20 overs
nor for the match to be abandoned and a new
match or matches with a minimum of 10 overs
per side completed: -
Fixtures can be played on grass or non-turf
pitches. Where possible they should also be
played on the teams’ main ground.
Fixture dates having been set, there shall be no
variation. Teams responsible for not fulfilling a
fixture on scheduled dates shall receive 0 points
and loss of deposit highlighted in condition 3.
The start time shall be mutually agreed by both
teams but in dispute ECCB state 12 noon shall
be the agreed time.

Prior to the commencement of each match the
Team Managers shall present a list of players to
each other, which should be retained in case of
later need. Home sides are required to publish
a full scorecard on Play-Cricket within 48hours
of a result. Away side must confirm scorecard
Tea intervals shall be taken between innings (in
the event of a match being interrupted or
delayed the Umpires shall decide when the
interval will be taken). The home side shall
provide, with the agreement of the Umpires,
drinks for those on the field of play at a suitable
point (e.g. after 10/15 overs) during each
innings.
In Zonal & Quarter-Final matches the Home
side shall provide suitable refreshments/teas;
the away side shall provide TWO identical
league standard cricket balls.
Each side to provide a qualified Umpire for each
match. In the event of no suitable umpire being
available any mutually acceptable person
EXCLUDING THE TWO TEAM MANAGERS may
stand. At no time should an Umpire stand who
is under 18 years of age. In addition to law 25
the following will apply: - Umpires are
instructed to apply a very strict and consistent
interpretation in regard to this law in order to
prevent negative bowling wide of the wicket.
Any offside or legside delivery, which, in the
opinion of the umpire does not give the
batsman a reasonable opportunity to score,
shall be called a wide.
In zonal games the game is then deemed
abandoned and 2 points each will be awarded.
Within the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final
there must be a result, the match shall be
decided outdoors or indoors on any surface
(the Umpires deciding in the event of
disagreement) by the following form of contest:
Five cricketers from each team, named prior to
the commencement of the contest, shall bowl,
overarm, two deliveries each, alternatively by
team, at 3 stumps at a distance of 21 yards.
The team scoring the higher number of ‘hits’
shall be the winner. If the scores are equal the
same cricketers shall bowl one ball each, again
alternatively by team, to achieve a result on a
‘sudden death’ basis. If through Health and
No bowler shall deliver more than 5 overs in a
25 over match and 6 overs in a 30 over game, or
more than one fifth of the available overs in a
reduced overs game.

The Semi-Final matches will be played at
Billericay CC, and the Final at Essex County
Ground, refreshments and balls will be
provided.
Umpires appointed by ECCB will stand at SemiFinals and at the Final.

All matches in Peter Coe Cup 2017 will be
played under the Laws of Cricket and Spirit of
the Game (See also Special Notes).

The Playing pitch shall be 21 yards in length.
Four and three quarter ounce balls shall be
used.

ECCB shall advise interested parties of rulings
on any matters upon which these Rules,
Regulations and Playing Conditions are silent,
unclear or disputed and of Disciplinary decisions
after discussion by a panel comprising
nominees of ECCB.

All teams participating in Peter Coe Cup 2017
must have a nominated representative present
at all times during all games.

All results should be submitted through your
Play-Cricket Administrator; Results can be
found via www.essexyouthcomps.playcricket.com. Home side to complete full
scorecard with away side confirming result
within 48hours of the result.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Any current National or County Directives or
Recommendations in respect of fast bowlers, - fast
bowling directives, fielders, - fielding directives and
helmet directives in Age Group Cricket shall be taken
into account by the Umpires, the Team Managers
having advised details of the players affected
through the completed team cards.
ALL TEAM MANAGERS should note that substitution
of injured or sick players by the 12th Man (or other
qualified player) is permitted by permission of the
opposing Captain and Umpires only and in
accordance with the Laws of Cricket.
Entries for Peter Coe Cup 2018 will only be accepted
on the official electronic application Form.
