A MESSAGE FROM MR SIBLEY
Dear Parents,
I wanted to let you know about Ethan Smith, Henry
Gale and Matthew Gale who have raised funds for
Qatar Cancer Society. On 1st of April, the boys held
a bake sale and raised the sum of 322QAR for this
charity. We are very proud when our children show
such kindness to other people. Well done boys!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our International Week
where the children have had the chance to explore
other countries and appreciate other cultures and
traditions. We all enjoyed the Bedouin Tent, the
falcon and the camel being on site with us today and
the special International themed Assembly where
children performed dances and shared what they
had learnt during the week.
Many thanks to all the children and parents who
made and brought in food today for the children’s
International Food Fair. I would also like to say thank
you to the staff who have planned such exciting
activities this week and in particular Mr Mahmood
who has coordinated this International Week. Have
a wonderful Spring Break.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK AT DESS
We are a school of many different nationalities and
cultures at DESS and we celebrated with a whole week
dedicated to understanding the diversity of nationalities
and cultures this school represents.
The children took part in many exciting activities
throughout the week. Each class represented a different
country and lots of learning took place around these.
From making clay models of the Leaning Tower of Pisa to
building an Eiffel Tower made from marshmallows and
spaghetti and who could forget the children in Year 5 who
learnt the traditional war cry and dance of the Maori
people of New Zealand—a video which has now been
watched by over three thousand people on our Facebook
page! Watch out for a new update on social media later
today with what we think is now the greatest Haka ever!
Celebrations continued today where we saw some
fabulous national dress costumes in our parade from staff,
parents and children. A camel and a falcon joined us on
site and a Bedouin Tent where children sat and learnt
about the importance of the falcon in Qatar’s culture and
traditions. Children were also treated to a feast from our
parents of different foods at the international food fair,
from countries from all over the world. We were also
privileged to be entertained by the Arabic Department
from Qatar Music Academy.
