No.17 www.paultonjuniorschool.co.uk (Pictured above: Year 4 with the cast of Danny Champion of the World at the Egg Theatre) Year 4 visit…Danny Champion of the World On Friday 8th May, Year 4 went on a coach to the Egg Theatre in Bath to watch one of Roald Dahl’s books being performed. The book is called Danny Champion of The World. Our favourite part was when the chickens pestered Mrs Rawlings so she ended up with messy hair! We also liked it when Danny got the cane on his hand and Imree on the front row tried to stop it, and Mr Smith had to stop her! We are VERY grateful to Mr Barge for organising the theatre trip, it was worth every penny! From all of Year 4. By Abigail Rakes and Chloe Jordan. Jeff’s Big Scoobike A huge thank you to everyone for their effort today in making Jeff’s Scoobike such a fun day and for helping us to raise money for Dorothy House. The main man himself, Mr Mountjoy was in attendance to judge the incredible bikes and scooters that had been so wonderfully decorated. He had a tough job. Don’t forget there is still time to collect sponsorship money. Final collection date is Friday 5th June. Thank you. Year 6 complete SATs unscathed! Congratulations to everyone in Year 6, staff and pupils alike, for completing their SATs this week. Everyone worked so hard. You should feel very proud of all that you have achieved. Well done. And in Paulton Pupil News… Below are three articles demonstrating the huge amount of talent which is so evident in our school. A huge well done from everyone to all 3 children. 1. The Westend Cup Last weekend I travelled with Southampton FC to play in the Westend Cup Football Tournament. I played 5 matches on Saturday and 5 on Sunday against local teams and Bundesliga Academy teams. My team played well and we won the plate competition, I scored 10 goals. I was especially happy as I was voted player of the tournament for Southampton. Afterwards, we toured the city and I saw the Berlin Wall and the Herta Berlin stadium where the Olympics were held. I really enjoyed my trip and look forward to representing Southampton again next season! Charlie McLachlan 5W 2. National Scout Archery My name is Charlie Hopkins from 4S. Last weekend I went to Phasels Wood in Hertfordshire to compete in the 10th National Scout Archery competition through Cubs. This was my first competition and I have only been training for a few months although I have tried it before at Cub camps. I competed in Clout, Field and Target. Clout involved shooting at a flag 60 yards away, Field was shooting at targets in the woods at various distances and sometimes having to shoot round trees and bushes, and Target was shooting outside at a target 20 yards away. When I left to go, all I expected to come back with was a smile on my face, but instead, not only did I come back with a smile on my face but also with two bronze medals. One for Under 11s Target, scoring 114, and one for Under 11s overall. Charlie Hopkins 4S 3.
