copy of this in book form which
is on the literacy table with our
programme planning in it.
Please feel free to read this and
make comments, suggestions
and give us feedback. We really
value the contribution that you
can give us to our programme,
so please have a read. Thank
you.
The Programme ...
At the end of last term we finished
off our Matarkiki and Maori
language week celebrations with a
shared lunch for both groups. It
was lovely to share food as a large
group.
Over the holidays the teachers
had lots of fun and discussion
around changing our indoor
environment to best support our
children especially our younger
children. We have created smaller
and quieter spaces. So far it is
working very well but please do
share with us your thoughts and
feedback on how you feel the
environment is working.
Term 3: Mon 25th July
to Fri 23rd September
We have booked an excursion
for the older children to go to
the Island Bay Marine Education
Centre. This will be on Thursday
15th September.
The Learning Programme

the wall by the music area. But
we have now also created a

Family/Whānau Involvement
The children love having visitors
into the Kindergarten to share
with them. If you or any of your
Whānau would like to share your
knowledge and culture with us
e.g. Cooking, music, gardening to
name a few, then we would love
to have you. Please talk to a
teacher if this interests you
Student Teacher
We welcomed a third year
student, Ellie, who is with us for 4
weeks. Yutong our student from
last term will be in on Friday’s, to
help with her ongoing studies.
Facebook
Our face book posts will continue
this term, sharing the children’s
learning with our families and
community. We welcome lots of
comments,
thoughts
and
feedback on our posts.
Zone Dance
The children have loved having
Kylie from Zone Dance coming in
last term to do a dance class with
the children.
It’s a great
experience with lots of learning
opportunities for the children, as
well as being great fun. This will
continue in Term 3. To support
the cost of this we ask for a gold
coin koha towards the cost of
this, and there is a box on the
sign in table. Thank you.
Kapa Haka
Matui will continue with his kapa
haka session on Monday
mornings. This term he will be
focusing on retelling Maori
legends, as part of this he will be
getting the children to retell and
act out the story. We look
forward to this starting next
week.
Fruit and Vegetable Bowl
The children continue to enjoy
eating
shared
fruits
and
vegetables. Donations of a piece
each week would be appreciated.
Gumboots and warm clothes
Gumboots
are
great
for
Kindergarten, especially for sand
and water play. Warm clothes
are a must and if you could
please send 2 changes of spare
clothes in the Kindy bag. Thanks.
Before and after Kindy Caregivers
needed.
We have had lots of families
looking for child care before and
after Kindy. If this interests you
please see a teacher so we can
pass on your details.

Pak’n’Save for their continued
support to Paremata
Kindergarten.
Please do not park there. Also
please do not park side by side
in the bay closest to the
kindergarten. We are expecting
that the Council will be repainting the lines for parking
bays at some stage. Thank you
for your understanding.
Selling your house?
We have been very fortunate to
have been supported by Jason
Clarke Realty for several years.
He kindly provides a prezzie
card and the bike for the Wheela-thon every year.
If you are thinking of selling
your house, please give Jason a
call on 233 9198, or visit their
office at the Plimmerton shops.
Parking
The area at the top of the grass,
where there is barrier is not a
parking bay and is for the use of
the Council and Waka ama.
Donations and contributions ...
Thank you to everyone for your
continued support through
contributions and donations.
The
current
government
continues to suggest that more
money is being spent on Early
Childhood Education than every
before.
In 2011 Whānau
Manaaki Kindergartens lost
$4.5 million funding and since
then we have seen no increase
to base funding. The reality of
this can be seen when you
compare that current funding
per child is $11.77 and in 2008
it was $12.26.
Since government cuts in 2010
we have continued to struggle
to maintain the financial status
quo. This means that we need
your
continued
support
through both contributions and
donations. Contributions help
Whānau
Manaaki
Kindergartens
(formerly
Wellington
Kindergarten
Association) to maintain 100%
qualified teachers. We believe
this is key to providing quality
early childhood education in
kindergarten.
Donations are the only way for
us to be able to upgrade or buy
new resources for the children.
The reality of the budget cuts
means that the operating
allocation that we receive from
the Ministry of Education does
not allow for any money
towards children’s resources.
Contributions can be paid to
Whānau
Manaaki
Kindergartens account number
06 0541 0220620 04
Donations can be paid direct to
the Paremata Kindergarten
account number 06 0541
0220620 02.
We sincerely thank you for your
continued support.
Thank you everyone for helping and supporting us to make this kindergarten such a
special place for your children to grow and learn.
