TERMS OF REFERENCE: Competitions Committee 1. Primary responsibility: The primary responsibility of the BISFed Competitions Committee is to safeguard and strengthen the Sports Technical and Competitions Requirements of Boccia and to ensure that competitions are run in the best interest of the athletes, BISFed and the sport of Boccia. 2. Duties: The Competitions Committees’ duties include: a. Ensuring the honesty and integrity of the game is maintained b. Conducting the formal business of the Committee through no fewer than four meetings per year, one of which will be a physical gathering (usually in conjunction with a Boccia Competition.) All other meetings should take place by telephone conference call if possible c. Developing and updating amongst other things, the world ranking system, the competition structure, the qualification systems, the competition system, the Competition Manual, technical educational videos, the competition requirements for bidding a sanctioned event and maintaining the check list of equipment for a sanctioned event d. Contributing expertise, advice and influence in ensuring the Boccia Competitions Requirements are maintained e. Ensuring the Boccia Competitions Requirements are fairly applied at all BISFed sanctioned events by providing education to the TDs f. Evaluating competition bids received and making recommendations to the Board regarding the awarding of a sanctioned event g. Representing BISFed enthusiastically and professionally at all times 3. The annual time commitment of the Competition Committee Members is expected to be in the range of 15 – 20 days per year (but 30 – 40 days for the Chair of the Committee) The roles are voluntary, but BISFed pays reasonable economy class expenses for travel to important meetings when such expenses cannot be recovered directly from the organisers of the event 4.
