Temporary Works Committee Volunteer Position Description Position Title: Temporary Works Committee Member Purpose: The Temporary Works Committee it responsible for advising Council on issues impacting the practice of professional engineering and the practice of professional geoscience as they apply to temporary works. Reporting Structure: Committee members report to Committee Chair. Duties and Expectations: Consider and make recommendations on issues regarding temporary works. Provide support to encourage Association members to seek improvement of the practice related to temporary works. Advise on requests for information on technical matters. Represent the views of the Professions in the drafting of codes or enforcement matters. Review any required materials prior to meetings. Attend scheduled meetings in person or via telephone conference for out-of-area volunteers. Vote on motions. Skills and Qualifications: Registered member in Good Standing with APEGBC. Experience with temporary works, including but not limited to structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, fire protecting engineering, or code consulting. Term of Office: 2 Year Term (renewable once). Average Time Commitment: Meetings are held at APEGBC on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings are approximately 2 hours in length. A meal is provided. Measures of Success: The successful volunteer will: Provide recommendations based on your knowledge and experience.
