Wrigley Field

Chicago, IL 60613
Wrigley Field, nicknamed the “Friendly Confines” by long time Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie
Banks is the second oldest ballpark in the major leagues and the oldest standing National League ballpark.
It has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916. Wrigley Field is noted for several interesting
innovations in baseball history. It was here in 1916 where the custom of permitting fans to keep balls fouled
into the stands, now a universal practice, first started. It was here in 1925 where the first major league
baseball game was broadcast to fans. In 1937 the ivy-covered brick outfield wall was added as well as the
27-foot high manually-operated scoreboard that is one of the last scoreboards in the major leagues where
numbers are still changed by hand. In 1988 lights were added to Wrigley Field and the first night game was
played on August 8, 1988. There is no doubt that tradition and history embrace Wrigley Field and the
much-loved Chicago Cubs team.

Six hundred miles from the nearest ocean, nestled in a

saltwater shrimp farm. It’s so successful and so
environmentally positive that it is teaching the scientists a
thing or two.
Darryl and Karlanea Brown were once in the hog
farming business but in 2010 decided to change course and
plunge into the shrimp farming business. Darryl and
Karlanea have confounded the experts by figuring out the
delicate balance all on their own. And they certainly need to
know because they run their place with what is known as a
“heterotrophic biofloc system.” How do the Brown’s raise
post larval shrimp to large size edible shrimp in 5 month’s
time? Join us on the tour and learn the fascinating world of
Aquaculture! At the end of the tour you will have the
