A n A c t t o p r o v i d e for a f u r t h e r r e d i s t r i b u t i o n of t h e
S t a t e i n t o e l e c t o r a l d i s t r i c t s for t h e p u r p o s e
of g i v i n g t h e r u r a l d i s t r i c t s a g r e a t e r m e a s u r e
of representation in the Legislative Assembly ;
for t h i s a n d o t h e r p u r p o s e s t o a m e n d t h e
Parliamentary Electorates and Elections Act,
1 9 1 2 , a n d c e r t a i n o t h e r A c t s ; a n d for p u r ­
poses c o n n e c t e d t h e r e w i t h .

E it e n a c t e d b y t h e K i n g ' s M o s t E x c e l l e n t Majesty,
b y a n d w i t h t h e advice a n d c o n s e n t of t h e L e g i s ­
l a t i v e Council a n d L e g i s l a t i v e A s s e m b l y of N e w S o u t h
W a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assembled, a n d b y t h e a u t h o r i t y
of t h e s a m e , as follows :—
1. T h i s A c t m a y be cited as t h e " P a r l i a m e n t a r y
Electorates and Elections (Further Amendment) Act,
1 9 2 7 , " a n d shall b e r e a d w i t h t h e P a r l i a m e n t a r y
E l e c t o r a t e s a n d E l e c t i o n s A c t , 1 9 1 2 , as a m e n d e d b y
subsequent Acts. The Parliamentary Electorates and
E l e c t i o n s A c t , 1912, as so a m e n d e d , is i n t h i s A c t
referred to as t h e P r i n c i p a l A c t .
2. I n a n y d i s t r i b u t i o n of electoral districts w h i c h
is directed to b e m a d e after t h e passing of this A c t
i t shall be t h e d u t y of t h e E l e c t o r a l Districts Com­
missioners to provide a g r e a t e r m e a s u r e of r e p r e s e n t a t i o n
of r u r a l districts i n t h e Legislative A s s e m b l y t h a n is
provided b y t h e b o u n d a r i e s of electoral districts as
p u b l i s h e d in t h e G a z e t t e n u m b e r one h u n d r e d a n d fiftyo n e of N o v e m b e r e i g h t e e n t h , one t h o u s a n d n i n e h u n d r e d
and twenty-six.
In
I n p r o v i d i n g such g r e a t e r m e a s u r e of r e p r e s e n t a t i o n
i n a n y d i s t r i b u t i o n w h i c h is m a d e after t h e passing of
t h i s Act t h e E l e c t o r a l D i s t r i c t s C o m m i s s i o n e r s shall
increase, b y a t least t h r e e , t h e n u m b e r of electoral
d i s t r i c t s in t h e a r e a (in t h i s section referred to as " t h e
o u t s i d e c o u n t r y a r e a " ) comprised in t h e following
t h i r t y - t w o electoral districts set forth i n t h e abovementioned
Gazette,
namely,
Albury,
Armidale,
A s h b u r n h a m , Barwon, Bathurst, Byron, Castlereagh,
Clarence, C o o t a m u n d r a , Corowa, G o u l b u r n , H a r t l e y ,
L a c h l a n , L i s m o r e , Liverpool P l a i n s , M o n a r o , M u d g e e ,
Murray, Murrumbidgee, Namoi, Orange, Oxiey, Raleigh,
S o u t h Coast, S t u r t , Tarn w o r t h , T e m o r a , Tenterfield,
W a g g a Wagga, Wollondilly, Wollongong, and Young,
a n d shall decrease accordingly t h e n u m b e r of electoral
districts in t h e a r e a (in t h i s section referred to as " t h e
C u m b e r l a n d - N o r t h u m b e r l a n d a r e a " ) comprised in t h e
r e m a i n i n g fifty-eight electoral districts set forth in t h a t
Gazette.
With respect to electoral districts in " t h e outside
c o u n t r y a r e a , " t h e E l e c t o r a l Districts Commissioners
m a y m a k e s u c h d e d u c t i o n n o t exceeding e i g h t h u n d r e d
from t h e q u o t a as t h e y d e e m necessary lor g i v i n g effect
t o t h e provisions of this A c t , a n d t h e q u o t a as so
r e d u c e d shall be t h e q u o t a for s u c h electoral districts.
W i t h r e s p e c t to electoral districts in " t h e C u m b e r ­
land-Northumberland a r e a " the Electoral Districts
C o m m i s s i o n e r s m a y m a k e s u c h a d d i t i o n n o t exceeding
e i g h t h u n d r e d t o t h e q u o t a as t h e y d e e m necessary for
g i v i n g effect t o t h e provisions of t h i s A c t , a n d t h e quota
a s so increased shall be t h e q u o t a for such electoral
districts.
A d i s t r i b u t i o n of electoral districts shall be
w i t h i n six m o n t h s after t h e p a s s i n g of this A c t .

3. T h e provisions c o n t a i n e d in t h e P r i n c i p a l A c t a n d
t h e P a r l i a m e n t a r y E l e c t o r a t e s a n d Elections ( A m e n d ­
m e n t ) A c t , 1926, shall, so far as applicable, a n d s u b j e c t
t o t h e provisions of t h i s A c t , a p p l y to t h e f u r t h e r
r e d i s t r i b u t i o n of electoral districts after t h e c o m m e n c e ­
m e n t of t h i s A c t , w h i c h f u r t h e r r e d i s t r i b u t i o n is hereby
a u t h o r i s e d to b e m a d e .

4. (1) U p o n t h e issue of t h e w r i t s for t h e first
g e n e r a l election after t h e p a s s i n g of t h i s A c t t o h e
c o n d u c t e d u p o n t h e basis of single seat electorates i n
accordance w i t h t h e provisions of t h e P r i n c i p a l A c t a s
amended by this Act, the Parliamentary Elections
(Casual Vacancies) A c t , 1920, a n d t h e P a r l i a m e n t a r y
E l e c t i o n s (Casual Vacancies) A m e n d m e n t A c t , 1 9 2 1 ,
shall cease to h a v e effect.
(2) A n y provisions of t h e P r i n c i p a l A c t w h i c h
w e r e repealed e i t h e r e x p r e s s l y or impliedly b y t h e
P a r l i a m e n t a r y E l e c t i o n s (Casual Vacancies) A c t , 1920,
or t h e P a r l i a m e n t a r y E l e c t i o n s ( C a s u a l Vacancies)
A m e n d m e n t A c t , 1 9 2 1 , shall as from t h e d a t e u p o n
w h i c h t h e said A c t s cease to h a v e effect be revived
a n d are h e r e b y r e - e n a c t e d .
5. I f t h e t w e n t y - s e v e n t h P a r l i a m e n t of t h e S t a t e of
N e w S o u t h W a l e s is dissolved prior t o t h e p r o c l a m a t i o n
of t h e n e w b o u n d a r i e s of n i n e t y electoral districts i n
a c c o r d a n c e w i t h t h e r e d i s t r i b u t i o n as provided for i n t h i s
A c t , t h e general election n e x t following t h e dissolution
of t h e P a r l i a m e n t shall be c o n d u c t e d on t h e basis of t h e
n i n e t y electoral districts proclaimed in t h e G a z e t t e
n u m b e r one h u n d r e d a n d
fifty-one
of N o v e m b e r
e i g h t e e n t h , one t h o u s a n d n i n e h u n d r e d a n d t w e n t y - s i x ,
a n d in all respects as if t h i s A c t h a d n o t been passed.
