Send us your spam! All Anti-Spam services let some spam through. Often it is subjective – you may think that it is spam but others may not. However, from time-to-time you may receive and email that you believe should have been blocked, please forward the email to [email protected] and we will tune our service to better recognise spam. Note that this does not necessarily mean that all similar, future messages will be blocked, but it is contributing to the spam identification process. Webroot have an automatic feedback mechanism that allows you to submit misclassified messages directly into the spam classification service. Spam messages that you send us will be fed directly into the anti-spam training systems, ensuring that current and future variants of spam messages are detected and blocked by the filtering service before entering your network. Due to the specific nature of spam, it is very important that our systems are able to analyse as much of the mail as possible. In particular, it is important that we receive the spam message back in its original form. For these reasons, the message must be submitted by yourself as a forwarded message attachment, and not as forwarded text, which tends to be the default for many mail clients with the Internet / message headers pasted into the forwarded email. Unfortunately, any messages not in the correct format cannot be processed. Obtaining the message headers in outlook 200x Æ: Open the offending email message fully Click on View Æ Options, the following screen will appear Copy the entries in the internet headers: (click mouse over the box and press Ctl and A simultaneously to select all the entries) Close this box, close the spam message Create a new message or forward the original spam message Address it to [email protected] Paste the headers into this new message If not using the forwarding option to attach the original email, Drag and drop the original spam email into the new message Send the message. Outlook configuration Options You can send Mail as forwarded attachment or forward the original email; in either case, we request that you copy out the internet/Message headers of the email and paste them into your forwarding email You can change your options so when forwarding any message it is sent as an attachment This change is made in the following location: Tools Æ Options –Preferences Tab Æ E-mail Options Second half of the box, ‘On replies and forwards’ change the option if not already set to ‘When Forwarding a message – Attach original message’ – save the settings. When you next forward any email, you will see the message appear as an attachment.
