IAHV launches appeal for aid in Haiti
January 2010
+
IAHV in association with Art of Living
Foundation is responding to the
earthquake that has devastated
Haiti. A group of volunteers from
Dominican Republic are leaving with
relief material to Port Au Prince. IAHV
is working on mobilizing its youth
leaders in Haiti for providing relief
work. We will also provide our trauma
relief programs after the rescue
efforts and plan for long term
rehabilitation.

Dr. Rose Marie Toussaint, a surgeon and
Art of Living teacher, talks lovingly of her
homeland.
“Being born and raised in Port-au-Prince, I
am devastated by what has happened to
my people, my friends and family. My
country is suffering. I want to jump on a
plane right now to help. But I need help to
make a real difference."

•

confirmed dead –
with the prime
Minister fearing the
death toll could top
100,000
•
Millions have been
left homeless,
injured, orphaned
and in desperate
need of aid which is
currently being flown
in from across the
world.
IAHV’s unique Trauma Relief Programme..
…gives victims the tools to release the intense emotions associated with trauma - grief,
anger, loss, and hopelessness. Literally millions of impoverished and traumatized
people from Iraq, Palestine, Ivory Coast, Kosovo, India and New Orleans have found
strength and solace from the programme.
In partnership with other organizations and churches, IAHV’s Haitian volunteer youth
leaders and volunteers and teachers from around the world will conduct the trauma
relief programme in all affected areas, from February through July 2010.
Immediate trauma relief is not enough. To heal and transform Haiti requires
extraordinary intelligence, perseverance, and creativity. The Art of Living Courses
offer long-term rehabilitation and leadership development that imparts the emotional
strength and clarity of mind necessary to inspire and create change.
