THINK INSIDE THE BOX QUILT SUPPLY LIST (page 1 of 2) Jeanette Pie’ [email protected] (410) 275-8241 www.EasyAsPieDesigns.com This is not a beginner quilt BUT it is very easy to make if you can keep a scant ¼” seam and press gently. All straight edge sewing – no set in seams for this one! It will take longer to sew together because of the size of the pieces. You will not get this quilt put together in one 6 hour class...BUT it is such an awesome quilt because of the optical illusion, which is caused by fabric choices and not fancy sewing. You will need to enjoy the “process” instead of hurrying to finish another quilt. There are 23 Blocks in this quilt. I chose to make 11 different sets of duplicate blocks. The last block I only made one that did not look like the others. This now makes this quilt into an “I Spy” Quilt with one block not like the other. The picture I have attached was made by a friend who made many many different blocks. It is VERY IMPORTANT when you choose your fabrics that your light, medium, and dark shadows are exactly that! For instance: Lt. Blue, Medium Blue, and Dark Blue work together with the value of the fabrics standing out to give the block depth. I am suggesting that when you buy these fabrics that they are tone on tone, not a busy fabric with flowers, etc. Use the “busy” fabrics inside the box. Inside the Box fabrics can be ANYTHING....almost. You do need to remember that the triangle you cut for inside the box is only a 3” triangle. For instance: DON’T buy fish fabric that has big fish in it because you may only get an eye in one triangle and a tail in the other. Keep the scale smaller so you can tell the box has fish in it. Examples for Inside the Boxes: Sewing Stuff, Flowers, Beach Things, Veggies, Girlie Stuff, Manly Stuff, so many things!!! Background Fabric needs to be more like a tone on tone fabric too. This will make the blocks “POP” sitting on the background fabric. Black really “POPS” bright fabrics. A bright background fabric will pop light fabrics.
