Notes from Leslie... Welcome to another New Year! I hope your year is off to a great start and you have made all of your New Year’s resolutions that may or may not stick with you throughout the year. I always have great intentions, but somehow they seem to disappear rather quickly – and I don’t think I am alone on this one!! The December movie, “Woman In Gold”, was wellJanuary 2016 attended by 96 members. The movie was based on the true ISSUE #328 MEMBER FDIC story of an Austrian woman’s attempts to reclaim her family possessions that were seized by the Nazis after she fled Vienna more than sixty years earlier. A very humbling story that made me again realize what so many innocent people endured during those disastrous times. Our thanks to Ellen Wesemann & Bob Krogh for helping draw the prize winning numbers. The $2 prizes were won by Lanny Hoogner, Lleanna Wright, Betty Lunn, Cathy Williamsen, Roger Hohensee, Jo Ann Hohensee, Susan Udey, Harold Ortmeier, Ellen Whitaker and Gene Staben. We finally drew a winner – Carol Kahler - for a $50 $Moneybags$ prize in the afternoon. No winner was drawn in the morning. We also gave away 4 movie passes to Marilyn Dunkle, Jan Beedle, Fran Strong and Ruth McKay that were donated by Barry (Blair 3 Theatre owner). Congratulations to all of the winners! The $Moneybags$ will be $20 and $10 for the morning and afternoon movies on Wednesday, January 13th. Movie times are 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Blair 3 Theatres. Our Sunday afternoon outing to The Lofte Theatre was very enjoyable. We had a filling lunch at Main Street Café in Louisville and then saw a fun performance of “Dear Santa” by some very talented people. A special treat was having some of the performers – young and old – join us on the bus to say “Merry Christmas” before we left for home. It reminded me of the Branson shows where they come aboard the coaches! It was a great day to share with all of you that went along! We now have thirteen reservations for the April Fiesta San Antonio! motor coach tour. Don’t forget about the travel show on Thursday, January 14th at 3:30 p.m. (in Blair) if you would like to learn more about this spring trip to see some wonderful sights in Texas. The reservation deadline will be January 18th, so please let me know if you are interested in joining us. The May 19th performance of “Under the Streetlamp” at the Holland Performing Arts Center is sold out! I was pretty sure this would sell out quickly, but was surprised that it happened before I had time to publish the price in a newsletter. The cost has been set at $95 per person which includes dinner at Tussey’s Casual Grill prior to a 7:30 p.m. performance. If you would like to add your name to a waiting list, please call me at 402-533-0103. I have had cancellations for past events and it is always good for me to have some names on stand-by. I begin this New Year with hope that we will cross paths at some time during the days and months to come, whether it’s at a movie, during one of our adventures to a near or distant location or just around the community.
