Journeyman Trades – Painter

Abbotsford School District is looking for a qualified, Casual On-Call painter with a minimum of
Grade XII supplemented by a BC or Interprovincial Trades Qualification (Painter).
The successful applicant should possess a working knowledge of regulations and codes,
standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the trade and a working
knowledge of the current National Building Code, provincial and municipal regulations and fire
codes that have direct bearing on the trade. The successful applicant should have a minimum
of three years related trades experience and possess a Class 5 driver’s license.
The successful applicant will perform interior and exterior painting tasks, including preparation
of surfaces and removal and re-installation of hardware; prepare estimates of labour/materials
and time required to complete painting assignments; maintain and clean all painting and
associated equipment; ensure equipment and supplies are stored and maintained in a neat and
orderly manner and ensure adequate supplies are on hand – submit stores orders/requisitions
and ensure orders/equipment received are properly stored, maintained and used in accordance
with district standards.
The successful applicant’s shift will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 8.0 hrs/day, 5 days/week
(Monday-Friday). The current salary is $28.04 per hour with an additional 8% in lieu of
statutory benefits.
