beach and to touch the sea!

Lukhanyiso Safe House
God always knows beforehand how much space we
need in the Safe House. The extension that was done
in January has been blessed indeed! We never thought
we would need all that space! But just in the last few
days it has filled up to capacity.

VUYO and her baby, SIYA, moved back into the Safe House
2 weeks ago. Vuyo is a bright, pretty, energetic young
lady, and it won’t take long before she is on her feet again.
Siya has already started school in Knysna.

Precious
BEAUTY is growing more and more confident each
day. She is nearly 7 years old and will be starting
at Knysna Primary next year. She attends
after care each day, where they help with her
English.
PRECIOUS is an entertainer, that is all I can say
really! She has this cute, mischievous little face
and she is always happy, singing and dancing.
Precious
STEPHEN is growing
up fast. He still enjoys
going to school every
day, playing and is
very good with a
soccer ball.

Yolo
LAMLA and YOLO are 18 years
old and writing their matric
exams this year. So it is lots
of studying for them.

BONGA and ELETHU are best friends. They
do everything together. They walk to school
together and they ride their bike together and
even fix it together, which I was most impressed
to hear!
ELETHU is doing very well at school as he started
late, and so has had to catch up a lot quickly.
He likes school and tries hard. They are both
polite, nice boys and we are so glad they have
each other at the Safe House.

Bonga
ABI is 17 years old, and writes
matric next year. She is
settling into the Safe House
and these 4 girls share the
one safe house together. Abi
studies in Afrikaans at a
Secondary School in Hornlee.

How do you like these two terrorists, both 5 years old, with
skinny red legs? TOFFEE is young for his class at Little Elephants,
so will stay back next year and catch up, as his birthday is the
day before Christmas. He is still as cute as ever.
MANDLA is coming out of his shell and fitting in very well
with the other children. He dances and plays hard. Still a bit
of a loner when playing, as he has never had anyone to play with.
He gave Ella her first kiss goodbye the other day, and she was
amazed! He never knew how to receive love or give it, but is
learning.
He is clever and we want to try and get him and Precious into
school in town next year. We just need birth certificates for
both of them, as they were never registered at birth.
IMANGE and TAKUNDA continue to
stay with their Granny, but we pick them
up every day for school, pay for their
schooling and supply everything they
need, and drop them back at Granny’s
house after school. Takunda is clever
and should do well as he grows up and
they are both extremely sweet, polite
and nice children.
Babes
Karen
Zanele
Karen, Zanele and Phile continue to live
in the Safe House in Bongani. Babes is
now at College in George and doing well passing all her exams and comes home
Babes
twice a month. Bonga is staying with Ella in
Phili
the big safe house. Phili is still going to
school and Zanele is at high school and facing the normal teenage
challenges in the township.
Mihle
MIHLE is progressing
slowly. This is a
difficult case, as
Chrissie
the family gain
support from her, so
Mihle
Mihle
we have to be very
careful not to
offend any of them, so we can help Mihle. She spends a little time
with her family now and then, and here we lose ground on progress.
But thanks to all who help her here, Nicky Joubert has done a great
job with physio and taking Mihle to horse riding. Chrissie helped
when she volunteered at the Safe House, encouraging Mihle and
helping her to walk every day. Tower helps Mihle every day
to do her exercises and to walk, and of course Ella is there every
day, loving and supporting etc.

BIG NEWS - we are so grateful to have found sponsors
for ABIGAIL and PORTIA to move to a private school
in Knysna town. They are now both attending
Riverwood Primary School. This is going to be a
life changing experience for both girls. They will
get personal attention to help them with their school
work, and will be able to attend all the sports activities
provided - such as hockey, netball and many others.
SIPE continues at school this year, and we are
very proud of him for doing so well with his
holiday job at Sirocco. He is very conscientious
and loves to have his own pocket money to buy
whatever clothes take his fancy! He is a kind,
well mannered, helpful, determined young man
who will go far in life because of his attitude.

and Precious
who fell on some

TRACY is still our “drama
queen” and we love her to
bits. She entertains us on a
daily basis. She attends
after care to help her with
her homework, and also some
special help from volunteers
from Traveler’s World Wide.
She played in the netball team
at school this last term.
These photos were taken at a special birthday
dinner for Ella that was a great treat to all the
children, and decorated and catered beautifully
for her by a friend.
We had a little baby stay for about
2 weeks with her very young mother.
But they left and went off on their
own path after receiving some good
encouragement, advise, clothes and
supplies for the baby.

well.
EMZINI SOUP KITCHEN
We have been helping supply
food to this Soup Kitchen in
Nekkies, where there is a great
need. Children from wooden
shacks with alcoholic parents,
come every day of the week
to have food here. They
lack supplies, so we supply
them with basic items of
rice, beans and pilchards to
help feed the children.
EMZINI doggie project
Penny, Veronica, Lucy and Ella continue to rescue, feed, provide shelter, bowls, blankets, kennels,
take pups to the vet and report bad cases to Knysna Animal Welfare for help.
JERSEY OUTREACH
Ella and Penny tried to find the most needy children
in the township to receive these beautiful jerseys
that were knitted by kind donors. We look for those
children that we know do not have homes that cannot
afford to get their children warm clothes, or homes where
they drink all the money they have and the children go
without warm jerseys. Thank you to all those that
have donated jerseys.
