Yeast Lab
Introduction:
Yeast is a single-celled fungus that reproduces asexually. The purpose of this lab is to explore what
factors affect their rate of reproduction in a test tube. You will do this by mixing two solutions of yeast
in a test tube and measuring how much each mixture expands over the course of the lab.
You and your partner will decide how to set up the lab, with one “control” tube and one “test” tube.
Make sure that the tubes are only different in one way.
After you have run your experiment you will gather the results of two other groups and graph all three
together.

Our data:
Group 1’s data:
Height of yeast (cm)
Group 2’s data:
Time (minutes)
Analysis:
1) What is one thing that seemed to make the yeast reproduce the fastest?
2) Why do you think that would affect the rate of reproduction for yeast?
3) Why do you think yeast use asexual reproduction?
