Some of these experiences can bring about joy and excitement, while others cause sadness, pain, and fear. When faced with adversity, some of us have found false solace in drugs, alcohol, or other unhealthy obsessions that never quite fill that hollow void of unhappiness. We sometimes turn to unhealthy ways of coping – especially when our inner strength is put to the test. Known as Soul Wounds, this unseen emotional pain can keep us from true healing and prohibit us from connecting to true love, joy, peace, and happiness. In order to break the chains of our past that have kept us stuck in unhealthy patterns of behavior, true healing – rather than just coping – must occur. If you have a deep darkness within and you feel the pain of isolation and hopelessness, there is a place you can go. The Refuge is that place. The Refuge is where you can find hope, relief, and comfort in knowing that there is the ability to heal. “I will always remain grateful for what The Refuge taught me and how they gave me the tools to have a life beyond my wildest dreams.” - Alum “Life just wasn’t going my way.
