Prior to the beginning of the school year, we want to provide you with some important information. Included in this mailing you will find information about: • Senior Parking Permits • Important dates • Houses and late arrival Mondays including the bell schedule • The Activities Department • Picture day • The Athletic Department FIRST DAY of SCHOOL = AUGUST 17th, 2016 Beginning August 5th, student schedules will be available through Home Access and printed copies of the schedule including locker information will be sent home prior to the start of school. The building remains under construction; therefore we are unable to provide open access to the building prior to the start of the school year. During Enter With Pride, Freshmen will have an opportunity to walk their schedules and find their lockers. This will ensure that incoming freshmen can familiarize themselves with the building. Although the building has limited access, House personnel will be available during the times below to assist with student schedules. Please use Door 1 to enter and exit the building. I haven’t completed the online registration/enrollment for the fall, what should I do? Please call Central Registration at (630) 301–5050. The enrollment process must be completed prior to students receiving a fall schedule. 2. How do I pay my registration fees? Fees are not due until November 1st. You may pay fees online using a credit card at any time online. Payment by check should be directed to the bookkeeper and checks should be made out to West Aurora High School. 3. What additional fees might I need to pay? Optional fees such as yearbook, parking, driver’s education and Physical Education uniforms can be paid online. *Please note that incoming 9th graders will be required to purchase a heart rate monitor strap for $15. 4. Do I qualify for a fee waiver? Fee waivers are not available until October 1st. Any questions about fee waivers should be directed to (630) 3015524. If you are receiving public assistance, please bring your public assistance card with you. 5. How do I get my schedule? Schedules will be mailed home the week prior to our Walk the Building days. Student locker and combination information will be included with those schedules. Student schedules will be available via the Home Access Center beginning in early August. Printed copies of student schedules will also be available during Walk the Building days in each respective House. 6. Do I need to come in during the Walk the Building days? No. Walk the Building are meant to provide students and families the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the building. 7. What will be available on the Walk the Building days? House personnel (including counselors and deans) will be available for any questions. In addition, parents and students are invited to walk the building to find your locker and class locations. No other services will be available on these days. 8. When will I get my textbooks? Students will receive textbooks during the first week of class. 9. When will student pictures be taken? Student ID and yearbook pictures will be taken during PE classes this year. You will receive and additional mailing with information specific to pictures. 10. Students that have outstanding fees (school or athletic) will NOT be able to get their red registration card. All past due fees must be paid prior to participating in a sport. Secondly, payment plans for athletic fees will not be accepted. Instead, athletes will have one month from the start of the sport (September 12 for fall) to pay off their athletic fees in full. AFTER THAT DATE, ATHLETES WITH OUTSTANDING FEES WILL BE INELIGIBLE TO PLAY. Up until that deadline partial payments will be accepted, however, athletes will not be able to continue playing if not paid in full by the due date. Fees are $85 for the first sport, $55 for the second sport, and $25 for the third sport. Senior Parking Permits: • Must be senior status and hold a valid driver’s license with all prior debt paid (example: student fees and/or fines). • WAHS has a total of 200 student parking slots; only 200 permits will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. • A parent approved application is required before a permit is issued. Permits can be printed at http://www.sd129.org/Page/1336 or picked up at the main office. • $50.00 parking permit fee must be paid online starting August 8, 2016 prior to receiving permit.
