My president is Andrew Johnson. He was born on December 29th to Mary and
Jacob Johnson. He had one brother. His dad died when he was young. He was Scottish
Irish. He had no formal religion. He worked as a poor tailor’s apprentice. So his mom
taught him how to so. He was also a spokes man for small farms. His family and him
moved to Tennessee were he opened his own tailor shop. Andrew did not go to school so
he didn’t get an education. One night Andre and his friends snuck out at dark to go see
twin girls at their house. They through pebbles at the window to get their attention.
The mom saw them and threatened to call the cops. They all ran away scared.
He had many jobs as he got older. He was in the House of Representatives. He
was the U.S. Senate and was the only Senator to not join Confederacy. He was the
military Governor for Tennessee under Union Control. His last job before he was
president was that he was Abraham Lincoln’s Vice President. He Married Eliza McCradle
at age eighteen and she was sixteen. She thought him how to read and write so he would
get some education. He had five children. They named them Martha, Charles, Mary,
Robert, and Andrew, Jr.
My president was Abraham Lincoln’s vice president and became president when
John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln in 1865. He did not tolerate slavery,
he thought it was cruel and unfair. He believed that if you were a poor farmer you
should get free land. He felt the government was spending to much money so he made a
limit of how much they could spend a year. While he was in office in 1865 Nebraska was
added as a state. He was in office for one term, 1865-1869 Before his impeachment. He
got into a fight with the republicans in congress so they did not pass his laws. Later he
fired the secretary of war, which broke the law, and got him impeached. He divorced his
wife Eliza McCradle and married the next year to his daughter Martha Johnson
Patterson.
After presidency he became a senator of Tennessee after bring impeached. He
ran twice for senator and lost, he won his third. He died at age 66 on July 31, 1875 in
carter’s station’ Tennessee He lived from 1808-1875.His famous Landmark is in
