most physicians build their financial plans (what we call “wealth
plans”). Too often, they have ignored the most important factor in a
sophisticated long term plan; flexibility.
Because so much of life doesn’t work out exactly to plan, it would
seem obvious that flexibility should be fundamental to a wealth plan. This is especially so in the financial arena, since many factors that
may make the difference between hitting your financial goals or not
are beyond your control.
In the first part of this two-part article, we looked at two key elements
around which any plan should build flexibility; changes in your cash
flow/income and fluid tax rates. Here in Part II, we will examine three
additional elements; changes in the “market,” in your liability situation,
and in your health.

Investor Bulletin with the
purpose of providing
information to “help investors
protect their online brokerage accounts from fraud.” The SEC advises

investors to take the following precautions to help ensure that their
online brokerage and financial accounts remain secure. Use a Strong Password: According to the SEC, a strong password
generally uses eight or more characters and includes symbols,
numbers, and both capital and lowercase letters. A strong password
should not be based on common words, phrases, or personal
information such as a name or birthday. It should also not be easy to

guess—names and birthdays of spouses and children are common.
Hackers often use information found on social media sites like
Facebook to assist in cracking passwords (favorite athletic teams,
pets’ names, vacation spots, street names, etc.)—so be mindful of
publishing the sources of your passwords.

OJM Investment Commentary: March 2015
U.S. stocks rebounded from
January’s losses with large-cap
stocks rising 5.7 percent and
smaller-cap stocks gaining 5.9
percent for the month. During a
mid-month testimony before
Congress, Federal Reserve Board
Chair Janet Yellen indicated that
the Fed is on track to potentially
raise rates later this year,
depending on the economic data.
She cited positive trends in the
labor market, noting (among other
measures) the improvement in
jobs creation over the past year.
New jobs data for January (released in February) came in at a robust
227,000, and wages rose slightly after their decline in January. While
lower oil prices have depressed many inflation measures (another key
variable in the Fed’s assessment of the economy’s health), Yellen
suggested this factor is transitory.
