Day 1
Day 4
Our Civil War Tour begins in Gettysburg; including the Museum,
Cyclorama, Film, and guided tour of the Battlefield. Dinner is
included at a historic inn with Voices from the Battlefield presentation.
After dinner, depart and check in to our hotel for the night. D
This morning, we depart for Harpers Ferry with our Civil War Guide
who will offer information and interpretations enroute. After touring
Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, we’ll depart to enjoy lunch in
a beautiful historic inn near Antietam. After lunch, tour Antietam
Battlefield. Antietam Battlefield was the scene of the Civil War’s
bloodiest one-day battle. Visit the Pry House Field Hospital Museum.
Dinner is included this evening before returning to the hotel for the

Day 2
Breakfast is included at our hotel each morning. Depart with our Expert
Civil War Guide. Visit the Lincoln Memorial, stop for a photo
opportunity of The White House, and tour President Lincoln’s
Cottage. Enjoy lunch on your own at Union Station. This afternoon
we’ll visit Ford’s Theatre, Peterson House, and the Center for
Education and Leadership. Visit the Clara Barton Apartment and
Office of Missing Soldiers. Clara Barton occupied this building during
the Civil War, while she was providing supplies to soldiers on the
battlefields. Dinner is included. After dinner, depart for an Illuminated
Monument Tour. B, D
Day 3
Today, our Civil War Guide will take us to Manassas Battlefield
where we’ll see a film, tour the battlefield, and visit Ben Lomond. Next
we’ll visit Arlington National Cemetery to see the Changing of the
Guard and visit Arlington House (Lee-Custis Mansion) the former
home of Robert E. Lee. Enjoy lunch on your own and free time to visit
the National Museum of American History, offering an extensive
collection of Civil War artifacts, including Lincoln’s Top Hat and Henry
Rifle, the chairs used at Appomattox when General Lee surrendered to
General Grant, and, in 2015, the ‘new’ National Museum of African
American History and Culture will open with a large Civil War
artifacts collection. Dinner is included this evening. After dinner, walk
through the Kennedy Center and view the city from the terrace. B, D
Day 5
Today, we depart with our Expert Civil War Guide and visit Cedar
Hill, home of Frederick Douglass. Next, we’ll visit Fort Stanton
National Park. Fort Stanton was a Civil War-era fortification
constructed in the hills above Anacostia in the District of Columbia, and
was intended to prevent Confederate artillery from threatening the
Washington Navy Yard. Continue with a visit to the Surratt House
Museum. On the night of April 14th, 1865, John Wilkes Booth’s flight
here, after the assassination of President Lincoln, entangled the house
and its occupants in infamous history. Enjoy lunch on your own and
additional free time to visit more museums of the Smithsonian
Institution on the National Mall. Dinner is included before returning to
the hotel for the night. B, D
Day 6
After breakfast, check out and depart for Frederick, Maryland. Arrive
and begin a tour of historic Frederick, including the Community
Bridge Mural, the Historic Society of Frederick County, and outside
of the Barbara Fritchie House. Tour the National Museum of Civil
War Medicine. This museum tells the dramatic story of the War, along
with the developments that set medicine on the path towards modern
medicine. After lunch on your own, continue home. B
