ecessity is the mother of invention.”
This old proverb has persisted for centuries
because it is, quite simply, true. No one
knows this more than Larry Bohanan, the
inventor of a robotic motorized therapy
system called the Quadriciser.
For 28 years, Larry worked for LockheedMartin as a designer, assisting scientists
with inventions and patents. But when his
father was threatened with the loss of a leg
due to diabetic neuropathy, Larry created
the machine to help mobilize his father’s
limbs and increase the circulation in the
hope they could prevent amputating.

The first Quadriciser was a huge success
– it managed to stave off an otherwise
imminent amputation for six whole months.
Although Larry had a successful career and
a steady job, at the age of 52, he left all of
this behind to found Quadriciser Corp. and
focus his time and energy on development
and production of his Quadriciser Therapy
System. This was a huge leap of faith, but
one that has proven to be a truly inspired
decision. The Quadriciser has earned high
praise from doctors, therapists, nurses, and
caregivers, aiding those with a variety of
ailments and disabilities worldwide.
On paper, the Quadriciser is a motorized
robotic therapy system designed to
increase circulation to someone’s upper
and lower limbs without any assistance
from the individual or they can assist
for active workout. In application, it’s so
much more. This machine can significantly
impact health by increasing circulation,
heart rate, strength, muscle, and range of
motion, balance, and bowel and bladder
function. For many suffering from debilitating
diseases, it has allowed them to take steps
forward -- baby steps, perhaps, but to many,
even a tiny bit of movement is equivalent to
a giant leap. Any progress is good progress,
or as they say at Quadriciser, “Movement
Equals Improvement.”

The Man Behind
the Machine
A Knoxville native, Larry grew up in the Lonsdale
community and attended Rule High School,
where he met his wife, Patsy. They’ve been married an amazing 53 years and have two children,
Jeff and Jennifer, and nine grandchildren. He
said, there would not be a Quadriciser Corp.
had it not been for the sacrifice and hard work
of his wife Patsy. In school she was the smartest
and most Godly person I knew. I am blessed.
Larry has always been very active in a church
since he was 12 years old and has a multitude of
ministries – from chalk art, sculpture, and puppets and is also a Christian magician. Larry loves
the Gideon prison ministry and Focus prison
ministry which is now called Focus Ministries
because they are now working with inmates
and their families on the outside of prison
walls to get their lives back together. In the
past 12 months Larry has led more than 46
inmates to Christ in his prison ministry services. He has always relied upon and trusted
in his faith in God. Larry uses the Quadriciser
30 minutes each morning. Then he goes
to his prayer garden on the hill for his quiet
time with God and back in the house for
devotions with his wife Patsy. Not your
average senior citizen, he is also a trick water
skier at age 74 and has built zip lines, swings,
waterfalls and tree houses at his home for his
grandchildren and friends.
A desire to help others led Larry to dedicating
his time to the Quadriciser and listening to
doctors, therapists and caregivers as to what
they would like to see in a machine. By using
their knowledge he gained many innovative
ideas and improvements to his machine
in order to help other people get moving
again. His dedication to others, to the
people who benefit from his machine and
to all those who benefit from his ministries,
is truly exemplary.

Around the World
A sign of Larry’s success is that
his Quadriciser machine has
been used worldwide –
with great success.
Larry ministered to 94-year-old
Swami Bapa in his Temple in India
in October and November. Swami Bapa
turned 95 in December and had 250,000
followers at his birthday celebration.
His followers flew Larry to India for
two weeks to minister to their spiritual
leader using the Quadriciser® Therapy
System. The day Larry left, Swami Bapa
showed renewed strength and threw 12
balls in front of 2,000 of his followers and
then they honored Larry with gifts. Watch

Clinical Data Study at James Madison University,
Improving Functionality Through Movement
Thomas Moran, Ph.D., CAPE, Completed a Clinical Data Study in the Kinesiology Program
at James Madison University, “Improving Functionality through Movement”. He used the
Quadriciser Robotic Therapy System among middle school children. The students loved being on the Quadriciser. Dr. Moran is a Cerebral Palsy patient himself, so he knows all too well
the pain that CP patients go through when they are manually manipulated. Dr. Moran stated,
