Come to corporate worship on the lookout for feeding on God and his
grace, and on the lookout for giving grace to others. Receive from him,
give to them. We’re prone to get this backwards. We come to worship
thinking that we’re somehow giving to God, and we subtly expect we’ll be
receiving from others. We desperately need to turn that pattern on its
head. The God we worship is one not “served by human hands, as
though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and
breath and everything. (Acts 17:25). And when he came in the flesh, he
did so “not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for
many” (Mark 10:45). …Worshiping God and building up others aren’t
mutually exclusive, but come to their fullness together. – David Mathis,

Welcome Little One!
Sherry Glenn Andrews, brand new daughter of Trevor and
Shelby, made her entrance on August 24, 2015 at 6:35 p.m.,
weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 19.5 inches. Congratulations, much
joy and many blessings to Trevor and Shelby; and to
grandparents, Rick and Debbie; as well as great-grandparents,
Dick and Mary.
                   

Our Adult Classes will begin September 13th with two choices:
How do the first three chapters of Genesis help us to understand
God and our relationship to Him? Great question! Plan to be
part of the teaching and discussion in “Study in Genesis”, a
class led by Paul Anthony.
Is church membership really necessary? What does it mean to
be part of a missional community? “Why Membership Matters”
led by Dan Thompson is a class that will explore these and other
questions about church membership. (Attending this class will
also meet the requirement CCC has for prospective members.)
Congregational Meeting Today
During the Sunday School hour today, we will have a
congregational meeting to receive and adopt the fiscal budget,
discuss upcoming church plans and update and reaffirm our
corporate officer list. Members, please plan to stay and
participate – thank you!
Help Pack Happy Lunches for Needy Families
For the month of September, we’ll be collecting lunch items in
the Compassion House green tub in the church kitchen. Why
not pick up some individual-sized juices boxes, chips, fruit or
other lunch goodies and bring them to share with local families
who could really use some encouragement?
