Market relations
The RFIB Yacht team has strong
relationships with both the London and
international markets, providing our
clients with access to ‘A’ rated security
and ensuring competitive terms without
compromising on coverage.
Director, Marine International
Chris joined RFIB Group in 1985 from Hogg
Robinson. He was first appointed a director
of Marine in 1997 and then board director of RFIB
Group in 2008 and RFIB Holdings in 2009. One
of the many facets of his role is to provide input
to production strategy and business placement.
As Managing Director of Marine International,
Chris is responsible for a diverse account ranging
from Hull to Political Risks. His particular areas
are Cargo, Specie, War and Terrorism reinsurance.
Richard Jenkins has over 30 years broking
experience in the Lloyd’s market. His career started
in 1984 specialising in placing brown water
business into the Lloyd’s and company markets
with the Lloyd’s broker Hogg Robinson & Gardner
Mountain (which became Bain Hogg and was
ultimately acquired by Aon). In 1995 Richard joined
the Marine Division of RFIB Group. In 2005 he
set up RFIB’s Yacht Team which is now one of the
top yacht broking specialist units in the London
market focusing on direct and reinsurance
wholesale business and also placing/managing
Yacht Binding Authorities for high volume
smaller values.

Clive Dolby

Jeremy Longhurst
Divisional Director
Clive Dolby has been in insurance for more than
40 years starting his career at Lowndes Lambert
in 1973. He has predominately been involved with
Hull and Yacht insurance during this time, but has
also been involved with Cargo, Cash In Transit
and Fine Art insurance. Clive joined RFIB in 2005
specialising in Superyacht insurance after working
at such companies as Reed Stenhouse, Sedgwick,
Bowring, Lochain Patrick and A.J.Gallagher.
Jeremy has over 33 years broking experience
in Lloyd’s and the London market. He began his
career at the beginning of 1982 handling and
placing primarily non-marine international financial
institutions, property and personal accident
business. Over the following years he held senior
management positions, at a number of brokers,
handling these classes of business. In 2007
Jeremy changed discipline to marine business
handling primarily European brown water accounts
and yacht business including the development
and managing of US Binding Authorities. Jeremy
joined RFIB in early 2011 to specialise in yacht
insurance and manage the division.

David Smith
Associate Director
Jimmy Atkins has over 12 years experience in the
insurance industry. His career started in 2002 at
Lloyd’s broker John Holman and Sons Limited
where Jimmy successfully managed and operated
a yacht Binding Authority underwriting business
on behalf of numerous Lloyd’s syndicates and
London Yacht markets. Jimmy joined RFIB’s
Yacht broking team in 2010 and specialises in
the placement of Superyacht business and Binding
Authorities on behalf of coverholders across
the globe.
David has worked in the marine insurance market
for over 13 years. He joined the RFIB Yacht Team
in 2005, specialising in handling yacht insurance
from small craft to some of the largest Superyachts
in the world. Working in a Broker Back Up
role, David is responsible for Market Reform
Documentation production for all Lloyd’s and
overseas markets including direct and reinsurance.
David also works in the capacity as a Broker and
is experienced in marine insurance/reinsurance
including Hull, Cargo, Excess of Loss, Kidnap
and Ransom. David is member of the Chartered
Insurance Institute.

Gemma Summers
Broker
Before entering insurance, Ash spent six years
working at sea. He attended Warsash Maritime
Academy and Mahuranghi Technical Institute
gaining his MCA Chief Officer and Master
qualifications. Recently he was Chief Officer and
Acting Captain of a 55 metre yacht. Joining the
Marine Division at RFIB Group in 2013 Ash is a
Broker in the Yacht Team. Bringing a unique insight
and first-hand knowledge of the practicalities
of working aboard the type of vessels we deal
with. Ash is a member of the Chartered Insurance
Institute and has a BA Honours degree from the
University of Exeter and the University of Cantabria
in Spain. He continues to race in national and
international regattas when time permits.
Gemma joined the RFIB Yacht Team in November
2014. Gemma began her insurance career in
2007 at Cooper Gay within the Superyacht team.
She then moved with her team to Willis shortly
after. During her 7 years at Willis Gemma regularly
worked at Marina Barcelona 92 shipyard, one
of the largest shipyards specialising in refit, repair
and maintenance of large yachts. This enabled
her to visit existing clients and help to expand the
existing yacht portfolio. Gemma has over 8 years
broking experience, looking after some of the
worlds largest Superyachts. Prior to specialising
in yachts, Gemma worked at Marsh within the
Power and Utilities team.

Ricky Miles
Assistant Technical Manager
Sean Hussey has 25 years claims broking
experience in the Lloyd’s market. His career
started in 1990 with Alexander Howden’s (who
were acquired by Aon in 1996) broking mainly
Excess of Loss Reinsurance Claims. In 1997
Sean joined the Marine Division of RFIB Group,
handling all aspects of marine reinsurance claims.
In 2008 he took on the role of handling Direct
Hull claims and then in 2010 became responsible
for handling claims for the growing yacht book.
Sean is now the Divisional Director of the Yacht
Claims Team.
Ricky joined RFIB in October 1985. He specialised
in the production of Excess of Loss and Treaty
wordings. In 1991 he transferred to RFIB’S Technical
Client Services Department working on Liability
and Cargo, he was responsible for the production
of debit notes and placement documentation,
as well as liaising with accounts departments to
follow up payment of client’s premiums. In 2005
Ricky started working with Richard Jenkins’ Yacht
Team producing their clients’ documentation,
encompassing direct and reinsurance placements,
as well as Binding Authorities. He has also taken
on the management role of the Yacht Team,
Liability Team and Personal Accident technicians
in the Technical Client Services Department.
