In 2012 to 2013 Mrs.
Bland’s Fourth grade
class in ET Hamilton
School has started an
ongoing project. Teracycle is what the students
send the juice boxes to.
Teracycle would not recycle them, but they
would up cycle them. Up
cycle means to reuse the
pouches in many different ways. The children
are trying to reach a goal
of 4,500 juice boxes.
The fourth graders are
doing this to keep the
earth clean and reduce
trash in landfills. Mrs.
Bland’s class donates all
their earnings to help
people and animals in
need. The children do
this to show that they
can make a difference to.

ET Hamilton School.
The students send the
shipments to Sturgis,
Michigan.
The children first go
to the cafeteria to get the
bin, and bring it to the
classroom. Next students
squeeze the juice out of
them, and take out the
straw. Then Mrs.
Bland’s class would
count out 500 for the
first shipment to Teracycle. Up cycling is what
keeps the earth clean and
green. As of today the
class has collected 2,007
juice boxes.

The long process of
how a Bill becomes a
Law.
How a Bill Becomes a Law
New Jersey’s State
Government has three
branches. The branches
are Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The
Legislative branch
makes the laws. These
are the steps of making
a bill become a law.
First citizens develop
an idea for a bill. Next
the bill goes to the
State Senate and General Assembly. They
take a vote. If approved
the bill is sent to the
governor. The governor could sign the bill
or veto the bill. If the
governor signs the bill
it becomes a law. If the
governor vetoes the bill
(veto means rejected),
the bill is sent back to
the State Senate and
the General Assembly.
They can take another
vote. If 27 State Senators and 54 General
Assembly members all
vote yes the bill becomes a law. That is
long process of how a
bill becomes a law.
Earth, Sun, and the Moon
The earth, Sun,
and Moon are all related.
First up is the Sun. The
Sun is a star, and it is also
a hot body of gas. The Sun
is the center of our solar
system. The Sun produces
heat and light energy.
Next is the
Earth. Rotate means to
spin. It takes 24 hours for
the Earth to rotate. Rota-
tion is what causes day and
night. Revolve means to go
around something. It takes
365 ¼ days to make one
complete revolution. 1 year
is a revolution. The earth
is tilted on its axis. The
Earth is on a 23.5 degree
angle. The axis causes seasons. The Earth travels on
its ellipse shaped orbit.
Now it is time for
the Moon. The Moon is
Earth’s nearest neighbor.
The Moon revolves around
the Earth. Gravity is the
force between the Earth
and Moon that keeps the
Moon on its orbit around
the Earth. Scientists still
study our solar system.
Milkshakes
Ahhhh! would you
like to learn how to make
a vanilla milkshake?
Well you’re in luck. You
would need milk , a
blender , vanilla ice
cream , a cup, and a
straw. The first step is
KRISTIAN
TIMES
getting the ice cream out.
Second, take a cup out
for the milkshake. Then
pour the milk with the ice
cream into the blender.
Now you can turn the
blender on and watch the
ice cream and milk mix
together. Next, get a
straw out for the shake.
Stop the blender and pour
out the vanilla milkshake
into the cup. Now the
shake is done! Mmmm!
That milkshake was
amazing!

Layers of the Earth
There are four layers that
make up the Earth. They are the
crust, mantle, outer core , and
inner core. Scientist study the
inside of the Earth to learn more
about earthquakes. Earthquakes
are movements and vibrations in
Earth’s outer most layer. Scientists use a instrument called a
seismograph. A seismograph is
used to measure seismic waves.
They are rocks moving along
faults.
The crust is Earth’s thinnest
layer. People live on the crust. It
is deeper under continents than
oceans. It is Earth’s outer most
layer.
The mantle lies below the
crust It is Earth’s thickest layer.
In the mantle, rocks move or
flow due to pressure and high
temperatures.
Finally, the core is divided
into to parts. They are the inner
and outer core. The inner core
is a solid sphere. It floats in the
outer core. It is the center of the
earth. The outer core is a totally
liquid layer. It is made of melted
iron. Even though scientists
know all this information about
the earth, they continue to study
the Earth’s layers.
Never Forget 9/11
9/11 it was a beautiful day!
BOOM! The day literally
started with a boom. Eleven
years ago four planes were hijacked. Two planes went to
NYC. Two planes hit the Twin
Towers. One went to Washington, DC and hit the Pentagon.
Then the other one hit an open
field in Shanksvillle. Thank
God! Osama bin Laden was
behind this mess. Almost 3,000
people died that scary day.
Eleven years has passed
since 9/11and many memorials
have been made. One of the
memorials is in NYC. It is a
waterfall were the Twin Towers
were made. It was surrounded
with names of the people that
died. In Shanksville, they built a
wall with all the names of the
passengers that were on the
flight. In Washshington, DC,
they made benches with all the
people’s names.
I am lucky to be an American citizen because I can be
whatever I want to be when I
grow up. I am also lucky because I live in a free country.
When it was time for recess,
some kids came over and
asked me to play kickball
with them. Then I felt a lot
better, and excited that I
made my first friends.
The next morning my
feelings changed. I felt
happy, and excited that I
moved. When I went to
school the next morning we
took our first Fearsome 15
sheet. The Fearsome 15
seemed very challenging at
first, but now it is not as hard
as it was on the second day
of school . Finally I

The Best sleepover
ever. MAYBE!
The Best Sleepover Ever
“Today is going to be
the best day ever!” Jimmy
said. Jimmy is having a
sleepover with his three
close friends Mike, Kris,
and Matt. Kris, Mike and
Jimmy knew each other
since they were babies.
Their moms know each
other from school since
they were little. Jimmy
knows Matt from summer
camp last year at Sunny
Side Camp. They are all 10
years old. They also go to
Hawk United school
together.
Later that day Mrs.
Jones told her son that he
can only have two friends
sleepover. Now Jimmy is
upset that he has to leave
one of his friends out.
Jimmy is thinking how can
he explain this to Matt.
When he explained it to
Matt, he said maybe you
can ask your mom if we can
camp outback of your
house. After school that day
Jimmy asked his mom if he
can camp outback with his
friends. Mrs. Jones said yes,
but only if Jimmy help her
set it up. Jimmy helped his
mom setup the tent when
she got marshmallows. That
night Jimmy called Kris,
Matt, and Mike over. They
had so much fun that night.
Now that was the best day
ever!
How a River Forms
There are three
parts of a river: the
source, tributaries, and
the mouth. The source
is the start of the river.
It begins at a higher
elevation. Gravity pulls
the water downward.
Tributaries are small
rivers and streams that
lead into the main
river. These tributaries
make the main river
deeper and wider. The
mouth is the last part of
the river. It is the end
of it. The water in the
mouth empties into a
larger body of water.
Those are the three
parts of a river.
Polar and Kodiak Bears
Polar Bears and
Kodiak Bears are
two of the most
mysterious bears.
KRISTIAN
Polar and Kodiak bears
have a lot in common, but
also have many differences.
Both bears eat fish and live
by seacoasts. However, the
way they appear is different.
Polar and Kodiak bears
live by seacoasts. Polar
bears live seacoast near the
North Pole because they are
good swimmers, but on the
other hand Kodiak bears
TIMES
live by seacoasts in Alaska
or Canada and are not the
best swimmers.
Kodiak and Polar bears
both love to eat fish. Kodiak bears eat salmon they
catch in streams. Unlike
Kodiak bears Polar bears
hunt on ice for fish, seal,
and walruses. Polar bears in
the summer may go inland
to eat grass and other kinds
of plants.
Both bears appear differently. Polar bears are white
and are eight feet-long. Polar bears also weigh one
half a ton. Kodiak bears are
yellow-brown and nine feet
–long. Polar and Kodiak
bears have some stuff in
common and some stuff
different.

Climbing a Mountain
In my dream it was a Saturday morning. It was a nice
out the sun was shining and,
it was a perfect day to go
mountain climbing. I went in
my basement to get stuff out.
I asked my two brothers to
come with me, but one of my
brothers were sick and the
other one was going on a
date. Then I decided to climb
the mountain by myself. I got
in my car and drove to the
mountains myself. When I
got there, all I could see
where clouds and no sun. I
was wondering should I go
or stay home, I decided to go.
It took me two hours to get to
the top. When I
got up there it

got scared. Then
be scary.
I tripped and
hurt my leg. I
was screaming
as loud as I could. I was
really scared and cold. Then
a rescue team came in an
saved me. When I was in the
helicopter, I looked at the TV
and saw that I was on the
news, Man Saved in Mountains’. When I woke up during that moment I was
scared, a little happy, and
worried. I was scared be-
cause I
thought that
no one would
rescue me. I
was a little
happy I’m
alive. I was
worried because what
my mom dad and 2 brothers
would say. I had this dream
only once, but I would never
ever want to have this dream
again because it was scary
and it was a nightmare.
History of the Northeast Region
Our class did a
project about
the 5 regions
There is a lot of history
in the northeast region. It was
established in 1932. The
northeast region has 9 of the
original 13 colonies and the
first
state,
Delaware.
Philadelphia was where the
Declaration of Independence
was
signed.
Benjamin
Franklin was born In
Philadelphia PA.
In this region, the Boston
Tea Party happened on May
10, 1773. Also Adriane
Block sailed to Connecticut
in 1614. He was a Dutch
navigator and the first
European to explore the area.
On 9/4 1778, Pennsylvania
paid 24 Iroquois chiefs to a
land known as The Triangle.
It was 315 square miles long
and 45 miles of Lake Erie
coast.
Also, in this region were
the Twin Towers use to stand
in New York City. On 9/11,
2001 Osama bin Laden and
his terrorists hijacked 2
planes and crashed them into
the Twin Towers. Now the
world trade center stands
where the Twin Towers use
to be. A total of 10,000
people worked in the twin
towers and 2,996 people died
that day.
The Northeast
region is one of the most
historical and interesting
regions.
