Guysborough Antigonish Strait Health Authority “Working Together for a Healthy Community” Volume 3, Issue 2 Mar-April 2004 GASHA Newsletter GASHA Staff and Physicians to be Recognized for Years of Service and Retirement In the coming weeks, the Guysborough Antigonish Strait Health Authority will be recognizing 143 staff and physicians who achieved milestone years or who retired in 2003. Staff with 5, 10, and 15 years of service will be recognized with a GASHA lapel pin. Staff with 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service will be recognized with a GASHA lapel pin and a pre-selected gift of their choice from Birks. In addition, the Mission Assurance Advisory Council will be presenting St. Martha’s employees and physicians with St. Martha’s lapel pins on behalf of the Sisters of St. Martha. complete list of those being recognized at ceremonies in April and May. An Incident Report Form should be completed for: Any staff-related accident or situations i.e. a staff member experiences verbal or physical aggression or any event which may have caused injury to the employee. Any incidents which do not affect the employee i.e. Equipment malfunction, deviation of policy, fire, theft, falls that are experienced by patients and visitors, medication incidents including close calls, etc. Immediately after the staff member completes the Incident Report Form, the front side of the form should be photocopied and forwarded to Ethel Gunn, Director of Quality/Risk, 25 Bay Street Antigonish, NS, B2G 2G5 or fax: 1-902-863-1176. The original form goes to the Department/Facility Manager to complete and review who will then forward it to the Director Quality/Risk for Risk Reporting. Page 2 GASHA Newsletter St. Martha’s Successfully Completes Values Integration Assessment The Catholic Health Care Values Integration Assessment Council congratulates the St. Martha's Regional Hospital on its successful completion of the Values Integration Assessment, in November 2003. plete. Participants were asked to score St. Martha's in six specific areas: Values Driven Holistic Care, Spirituality, Employee Relations, Mission Integration, Ethical Practice and Relationships Within the Community. The Values Integration Assessment was a large undertaking. The assessment was conducted in two phases. A final report was compiled which contains the scores and comments made by both focus groups and by individual participants. The overall report was extremely positive.
