May 2009 K3 & K4 Donna-sensei’s Newsletter Theme Happy Spring!! Plants and Bugs!! I hope you all enjoyed your Golden Week holidays and we are back for another fun-filled month! April was filled with information on the theme “All About Me.” Everyone did a wonderful job! To give you a quick overview, the K3 students were able to make sentences like: “My mom is tall!” and “I’m 3 years old!” (Please note: Some of our friends are still having difficulty distinguishing differences between “How old are you?” and “How are you?” but that’s ok!! ☺) K4 students were able to make sentences like “My dad is taller than my mom!” “I can smell with my nose!”, “I can hear with my ears!” and much, much more!! They were able to answer many questions relating to themselves as well, such as “What did you have for breakfast today?“ Wow!! Songs: K3: 1. Ants Go Marching 2. Itsy Bitsy Spider K4: 1. And the Green Grass Grows All Around 2. The Butterfly and much more! Sentences (these are just some examples): 1. How many legs do have have? legs. (ex: Ants have 6 legs.) 2. Ladybugs eat aphids. Bees make honey….etc. 3. Leaves make the food for the plant. (K4) Language Arts & Math: K3: Letters of the month- Cc, Dd, Ee Math – Numbers 0-5 Books To Read 1. I love bugs! 2. What’s that? 3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar 4. Busy Bee These are just few of the books we will be reading this month! K4: Sight Words of the month – it, not, the Phonics – CVC words with middle sound “e”.
