ThisdocumentisanoverviewoftheICAANationalInsulatorCertification
Examination.Itdescribestheprocessandproceduresfortheadministrationofthe
testandisintendedtoassistinthepreparationofinsulatorsforcertification.
Thegoalofcertificationistorecognizeprofessionalresidentialinsulatorsfortheir
workingknowledgeofinsulationandinsulationsystemstherebyavoidingcostly
mistakes.Certificationacknowledgesthecompetenceandskillsthatdifferentiate
ICAA---memberinsulatorsinthemarketplace.
ELIGIBILITYREQUIREMENT
Insulatorsmustbeonthejobatleastsixmonthsbeforetakingthetest.
APPLICATIONPROCESS
ArequestmustbesubmittedtoICAAinordertoschedulethetest.ICAAmaycharge
employersafeetocovertheadministrationoftheexamination.
EXAMINATIONPROCESS
Thecertificationexaminationisadministeredthroughasecureonlineportal.Priorto
theexamination,test-takerswillreceiveanemailwiththeirlog-ininformationand
thetimewindowduringwhichtheywillbeabletotakethetest.
IDENTIFICATIONREQUIREMENT
Beforereceivingtheirlog-ininformation,eachinsulatormustemailICAAwithone
formofidentificationthatincludesacurrent,clearlyrecognizablephotographand
signature(e.g.,driverslicense,workidentificationcard).
SCORINGANDREPORTING
Test-takerswillbeabletoviewtheirscoreimmediatelyaftercompletingthe
examination.ICAAwillnotifyemployersofthepass/failresultand,ifrequested,of
thecontentareaswheredeficienciesexist.Retestscanbetakenafteratwo-week
waitingperiod.Insulatorswhopassthetestwillreceiveacertificateofachievement
andanICAACertifiedInsulatorpin.

ICAAcopyrightsalltestquestions.Copyingortakinganyactiontorevealthecontents
ofanexaminationinwholeorinpartisunlawful.Printingandsharingtheexam,
answersheet,orotherconfidentialmaterialsuppliedtothetesttakerisprohibited.

fielddesignedthecontentareasandtestquestions.Thetestwasreviewedfor
validity,reliability,andrelevancebyanindependenttestpublishingcompany.
EXAMINATIONCONTENT
Theexaminationcontainstwenty---fivemultiple---choicetestquestions.Itisofferedin
bothEnglishandSpanish.Thetestdurationisuptoonehour.Thetestcontentmay
include:MaterialsandProducts;ToolsandEquipment;InstallationTechniques,
EnergySaving,Moisture,andVentilationPrinciples;BasicConstructionConcepts,
Terminology,andCodes;SafetyandHealth;JobsitePreparedness.
