15 WORK FRIENDLY FUNDRAISER IDEAS
Bake Sales: Hold a Friday bake sale so employees have treats to
bring home for the weekend. An alternative to this is to take
orders for baked goods. Provide the order form- this ensures that
people are getting what they want!
Bingo: Have a Bingo event either at work, or with your friends
and family! Charge an entry fee ($10-$25), and then split the
money you raise in half, one half to the Bingo winner, and the
other half can go towards your own fundraising.
Casual days: For $2 - $5 each, sell “casual day” stickers that allow
employees to dress casually on certain days.
Ice cream sales: buy individual ice creams treats in bulk and
keep them in the freezer at work. Employees can purchase at
any time for $3.00.
Cookbook: Ask your coworkers to bring in their favorite recipe
and compile them into a Company Cookbook. Sell them for $10 $15 with proceeds going towards the Cancer Foundation.
Pancake Breakfast: Have a traditional pancake breakfast at work
and either set a price for co-workers to take part or ask for
donations.
Pot Luck lunches: Name every Wednesday “Pot Luck Day.” Team
members take turns preparing foods, salads, desserts, etc. and
offer them to employees at the workplace for a set price or
donation.
Best/Worst Tie: Charge your colleagues a fee to enter a best or
worst tie completion. Offer a prize and have the entire office
vote at lunchtime.
Book Sale: Ask employees to donate used books to sell from $1
to $5, depending on the title and condition.
Coffee runs: Get coffee or tea for your co-workers for one
week. Charge a fee for the week, agree to delivery times and
put the funds you raise toward your goal.
Silent auction: Have staff bid on items such as extra vacation
days, longer lunch hours, VIP parking spots, dinner passes, casual
days, etc. Money raised goes to fundraising efforts.
Cake Auction: Organize a cake auction and get employees to
bake an extravagant cake. Each department brings in money for
a week – the department with the most money at the end of the
week gets first pick at the cakes. Enjoy the cake as a team!
Wine Down Wednesdays: employees pay $5 and enjoy a glass of
wine at work.
Jersey or Pajama Day: Pay $5 to wear your favourite team
jersey or jammies to work.
EMPLOYEE GIFT MATCHING
•
•
See if your place of employment will
match donations made by others.
Many companies do this a part of
their philanthropic pursuits.
Also check to see if your employment
gives to the United Way Campaign!
They can change their designation to
the Ottawa Regional Cancer
Foundation and we can direct your
United Way funds to your Ottawa
Race Weekend page at the end of the
year. We just need to know your
monthly contribution.

Ask your friends and family: it’s the easiest way! You can also ask them to donate to you based on how many KM you run while training or to
make a donation in lieu of special occasion gifts.
Exercise Class: If you attend a weekly fitness class, work with the facility to see if fees (or a portion) of the fees from a particular class could be
directed to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation in support of your Ottawa Race Weekend team.
Shopping night: Work with a local retailer to host a shopping night where % sales goes to your team.
Laugh it out: Call your local comedy club and ask them to partner with you in hosting a charity comedy night where proceeds from the night can
go towards your fundraising.
Car Wash: Check the weather and plan for a one-day or weekend car wash fundraiser on sunny day! They are a fast and cost effective fundraiser you just need to make sure there’s plenty of supplies. Charge $5 per car!
Bottle Drive: If you can return empty bottles and collect their deposits in your city it can make for another good fundraising idea. Ask all your
neighbours to hand over whatever empty beer and liquor bottles they might have lying around. You need to collect a lot of them to make it
worthwhile, so you'll need a car to transport them all.
Dinner theme - Have the team host a theme dinner. Host at someone’s house – each team member makes a food items. Charge people $15
minimum to attend.
Garage Sale: Looking to do some spring or summer cleaning? Collect items from from friends, family, neighbor, colleagues and host a garage
sale with proceeds going to your fundraising. And bond with your team!
Raffle: Ask companies to donate sporting tickets, baskets, etc. and raffle them off to family, friends, neighbours, and co-workers.
“Thon” Event: Find an activity that can be done for a long period of time – hoola hoop, bowling, dancing, watching movies, gaming night, etc!
Ask participants to pay a fee and solicit pledges from family and friends.
Music or Art Show: Hold a private or public exhibit of artwork or music featuring one or more artists! You’ll need a venue, artists, musicians,
tickets, and volunteers! Sell tickets and these proceeds can benefit the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
