Hummus Plus® Makes Big Changes to Hummus
Snacking with Smaller 4-oz. Line
Hummus + Chicken Snacks Provide Protein, Portability and Palate-Pleasing Taste for All Ages
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (April 26, 2016) – As smaller portions become more popular
among on-the-go consumers, a new line of Hummus Plus® Chicken 4-oz. packages allows for
easy, portable, nutritious and satisfying snacking.
The “PLUS” in Hummus Plus is protein. The combination of hummus and fresh chicken
– the first and only pairing of its kind in the marketplace – provides great taste and nutritional
benefits including high protein and fiber with no artificial flavors or colors.
Introduced in mid-April and now available in quick-service, c-store and other foodservice
channels across the U.S., the 4-oz. snack-size package is an extension to the Hummus Plus
portfolio that already includes larger 6-oz. and 8-oz. packages. The snack packs provide up to 14
grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber and feature a built-in utensil and napkin for easy
consumption on-the-go. The snack-size Hummus Plus Chicken line includes three varieties:
Traditional Hummus + Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast; Roasted Red Pepper Hummus + BBQ
Seasoned Chicken Breast; and Garlic Hummus + Garlic Herb Chicken Breast.
The addition of a new snack-sized portion aimed at busy, mobile consumers was a natural
decision for the Hummus Plus brand, as it meets the ever-increasing demand for on-the-spot,
wholesome nutrition. “Snacking continues to be a megatrend in the U.S., with consumers
looking for smaller portions in on-the-go packaging. At the same time, there is ongoing interest
in better-for-you snacks that are high in protein. The new Hummus Plus snack-size package

Early feedback is positive for the innovative snack pack. According to Gacom, one half
of consumers polled in a recent focus group said they would prefer Hummus Plus Chicken over
the leading hummus-based snack packs with pretzels and crackers. Those consumers surveyed
also indicated that they would enjoy Hummus Plus throughout the day, including lunch,
midafternoon, late afternoon and late night, because the combination of hummus and protein is
more filling and tastes great, bridging consumers to their next meal or providing a quick
nutritional pick-me-up.
The 4-oz. Hummus Plus Chicken snack packs offer other benefits, for both consumers
and foodservice operators. The product has a 75-day production shelf life, and the convenient
