1951 – Richard Johnson is shown
here operating one of his first

Salt truck into service picking up
product from Duluth, MN.

1965 – Tom Johnson at the age of 13

family operation of U.S. Salt-Johnson
Enterprises, Inc.
1980 – U.S. Salt begins development
of a barge unloading facility on the
Minnesota River Mile Marker 11.1.
1997 – U.S. Salt builds a direct
trans-load system for loading end
dump trucks. This system allows
trucks to be loaded in 45 seconds
from start to finish.

BULK PRODUCTS
Bulk Solar Water Softening Salt
This premium product is a bulk water conditioning product that is
99.8% pure sodium chloride. It is the highest quality water
conditioning salt and is a coarse grade material. Available in 50 lb
bags, one ton totes (super saks) and truckload quantities.
Bulk White Deicing Salt
This widely used ice control material is an economical alternative
and will provide results in melting ice and snow from many types
of surfaces. We offer this halite rock salt in 50 lb bags, one ton
totes (super saks) and truckload quantities.
ClearLane® Enhanced Deicer
ClearLane® is an enhanced deicing salt product containing a
pre-wetting agent, coloring agent, and a corrosion inhibitor. It is a
highly effective performer that protects exposed steel surfaces
from damp salt corrosion and remains free-flowing at low
temperatures. It adheres to the road surface more effectively
than dry salt, minimizing loss of deicer from wind and traffic
scatter, providing more efficient deicing. Green in color.
Open Road™
This unique blend is a custom mix of liquid calcium chloride and
sodium chloride that is dyed blue for visual application. This top
performing blend is excellent for roads, parking lots, and ramps. It
has a working temperature to -15°F and keeps melting where
regular salt stops. The use of Open Road will reduce salt usage by
up to 30% and is truly the environmental choice when it comes
to blended ice melters

Treatment
HeatWave™ is a corrosion
inhibited liquid form of
MELTS

calcium chloride that

has been tested and
proven to be effective to
-25 F (-32°C). Applying
HeatWave before a snowstorm
hits will not allow the ice and
snow to bond to the concrete or
asphalt. This makes post-storm
cleanup easier and less
expensive. With a natural
fertilizer it is the environmental
choice in snow and ice removal.
Road Guard™ Plus 8 is a corrosion-inhibited
liquid form of calcium chloride and magnesium
chloride brine developed especially for
anti-icing and pre-wetting at extremely ASMELTS

low temperatures down to -49°F

(-45°C).
The active ingredients for de-icing are 26.5%
calcium chloride, 3.1% magnesium chloride, 2.2%
alkaline chlorides including sodium chloride and
potassium chloride, 8% highly effective corrosion
inhibitors. The corrosion rate is 85% lower than
sodium chloride.

PRE-TREATED AREA
MeltDown ApexTM is the only liquid anti-icing
and de-icing product that delivers unmatched
melting performance at lower temperatures. It boasts
a 12°F improvement in freeze point over any other
liquid de-icer. This performance-enhanced
magnesium chloride (MgCl2) brine not only produces
results at lower temperatures, it also improves the
ability to combat snow and ice buildup on road
surfaces.
Available in 275 gallon totes and tanker trucks.
