Stay Safe and Drive Sober to
Spread the Holiday Cheer!
In 2014, 42% of fatal crashes on Lorain
County roads involved alcohol and/or drugs.
These deaths could have been prevented
simply by having a designated sober driver. 1
Consider these Holiday tips to stay safe:
• A sober driver is the way to go; so, plan ahead by finding a safe way home before the festivities begin
•If you’re buzzed, use Uber, call a sober friend or family member, or call a taxi
•If you happen to see someone who is driving recklessly drunk driver on the road, call local
law enforcement
Be the ‘Hostess with Mostess’ All Year Long!
•Offer a non-alcoholic beverage from the
Zero-Proof Mix-Off as an option for guests
•Plan activities like party games or a white el ephant gift exchange to keep guests engaged
in more than just drinking alcohol
•Help guests to coordinate safe rides home
before the party starts
•If a guest appears to be drinking too much, offer to freshen their drink up with a non-alcoholic
version of what they have been drinking
•Close the bar at least 90 minutes before the party ends & offer a great dessert treat &
non-alcoholic beverage
Alcohol Free Party ideas!
• Host your own Zero-Proof Mix-Off by asking guests to create non-alcoholic drink recipes as
a part of a competition
• Try a white Elephant Gift Exchange to keep guests engaged in a non-alcoholic activity.
• Have guests dress up in a stylish theme to
make the party unique and fun
• Make an exciting holiday menu that will be the talk of the party

As a party guest, YOU can be part
of the solution too!
• Volunteer to be a designated driver—your friends & family will be thankful
• Drinking at a party is not mandatory to have a good time, so avoid pressuring others to do so
• If you see someone who is about to drive
impaired, take their keys and help them
make safe arrangements
