What is my cost-basis? Tracking cost-basis information is the stockholder’s responsibility. The Company does not provide cost-basis calculations. Cost basis is the total cost you paid to acquire your stock. When you receive the merger consideration for your stock as part of the Questar/Dominion merger, you need to know your cost basis to determine if you have a taxable capital gain or loss. Your cost basis typically is the original purchase price of the stock – adjusted for any fees or commissions. The cost basis of your shares is the total amount you invested through: Purchase from a stockbroker; and/or Direct purchase through Questar by means of reinvesting dividends and/or making optional cash investments. Your original purchase price for Questar stock is best determined by using the information provided on your brokerage or reinvestment statements. If you have not kept your original records, calculating your cost basis can be more challenging and time consuming.
