Celebrating 375 Years
1639–2014
The Museum Town
MAKE MEMORIES BY CELEBRATING OURS!
Join Us for
Sandwich’s 375th
Anniversary Events!
Daffodil Days. A weekend of celebrating 10,000 daffodils in bloom with a great
Daffodil Festival (April 26) with artists, competitions, gardening, and special fun
for the kids. Then an outstanding concert* (April 27) with Ronan Tynan, the Irish
Tenor, whose mesmerizing voice and Irish humor will delight you. Tickets are
$29/$49/$69 online and at many Sandwich stores.
BASH Days. We Bring Alive Sandwich History by turning the clock back to:
BASH 1600s. (May 17) Come see the Wampanoag Summer Camp, the New
Plimmoth Gard drill, meet Myles Standish, 1600s crafts fair and join Rev. Smith
and his 13 kids play games at their home at the Hoxie House.
BASH 1700s. (June 21) Watch this hot bed of Tories and Patriots come alive
with a Play at Town Hall, the Red Coats and the Minutemen encampments, Nye
& Wing Fort open houses, horse drawn wagonette rides, Heritage Tea, lots of
prominent folks and music by the Colum Cille Pipes & Drums of Cape Cod and
others. Adding to the fun will be a GEO-CACHE scavenger hunt.
BASH 1800s. (July 19) Glass factory workers and civil war soldiers are here to
discuss the times, join the re-enactment of the commissioning of the Sandwich
Guards, and see vintage base ball with the Mudville sluggers. Plenty of live
music , Civil War drilling, and a Contra Dance at Town Hall.
BASH 1900s. (Aug. 23) Lots to do - Dodge Macknight exhibit and painting
lessons, scavenger hunt, First Church open house, Cavalcade of Cars & a USO
Block Party with the Cape Symphony Swing Band and the Snugtones (Andrew
Sisters). Meet Thornton Burgess, Ida Putnam and Dr. Beale.
Heritage Weekend. (June 14-15) From the March of the Descendants to a
cupcake competition, students singing, composing, and dancing, an all town
picnic & photograph, Red Sox “Wally,” CCBL baseball game, and a free Sandwich
resident day at Heritage Museums & Gardens; we celebrate Sandwich!
SeaFest. (July 26) Sandwich Marina hosts an old-fashioned clambake*, the
Artisans Guild of Cape Cod juried craft fair, interesting ships from then to
now, NAMA Seafood Throwdown, Thornton Burgess Kids Zone, Coast Guard
demonstration, Pirates, puppet shows & plenty of shanty music.
Water Street Wing Fling. (Aug. 2-3) A very fun family day filled with hot air
balloon rides*, classic car show, lots of live music, craft fair, food trucks, kayak
tours on Shawme Pond, inflatables & games for all ages.
PAINTSCAPING 3D Light Show. (Aug. 2-4 nightly). Better than fireworks and
performed in the major cities of the world, they are customizing a show just for
Sandwich. Something you will never forget! Don’t miss it!
Grand Parade. (Sept. 13) Titled “Our Sandwich Journey,” this two mile long
grand parade will feature lots of bands, floats, Red Sox trophy & “Wally,” band
organ, Clydesdales, classic cars, groups marching and more!
