WEIRD NOTES
Rudy Love Howard
& Clyde the Camel
Well another month has come and gone
and the weather here at the oasis has been so
terrible that we have had to keep those tent
flaps tied down tight.
Clyde is still hanging out down on the
farm and he tells me that the stable is heated
and has plenty of good food. That shimmy
Shaking Fatima is still in the south sea island's
working on her tan. By the time this is printed
we will have enjoyed the fellowship of the OB
breakfast enjoying all that great food that
President Tony, Larry, Randy, Rick and others
prepared for all. So great to see everyone
there and enjoying themselves. Now on to
some serious Business.
Fellow OB'ers lets get those dues paid.
GET MOTIVATED TO GET YOUR BAD SELF
ON DOWN TO PRACTICE ON TUESDAY
NIGHT AT 7:00PM. LET’S GET THERE AND
LEARN THE NEW MUSIC. THE JAMBOREE
WILL BE HERE BEFORE WE REALIZE IT.
PLEASE PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
Hope all who attended the Potentate’s
Ball had a really great time. It was a great
party.
Thanks to Noble Jim for his computer
work. In closing, let’s not forget those who are
having health or personal problems,
remembering them in our daily prayers that
they might receive divine healing. To the
young women and men who are serving our
country in order that we can continue to live in
the land of the FREE because of the Brave.
God Bless you all!
Rudy Love & Clyde
Greetings Patrolmen! The 2010
Potentate’s Ball was FANTASTIC! Thanks to
all of the Patrolmen and Ladies that pitched in
and helped make our hospitality suite a
success. A BIG THANK YOU to Illustrious
Steve Vessel and his Lady Lynda for all of the
time and thought they put in to this event to
make it successful!
Please DON’T FORGET that our onions
should be here around the 1st week of May. I,
along with the officers and other volunteers,
will be coordinating pick-up. Patrolmen, if you
ordered onions it is very important that you
pay for them and pick them up on time. We
will give you a call and let you know when they
arrive.
Once again, the Patrol will be helping out
with the fish fry and Shrinersfest that will begin
on Friday May 21st. The format has been
changed for the Shrinersfest but we have still
been asked to help out that weekend. The
spring raffle this year will be for 4 different
sizes of BIG GREEN EGGS. The tickets are
$5 each or 5 for $20. Let’s all put it on our
calendars and try to do what we can to make
this a success for the Temple. As we receive
more information on where our help is needed
we will pass it on.
Guys we are looking to have a big
turnout for the Spring Ceremonial on May 1st.
This is our first official parade for 2010. Check
your parade attire and come on down to join
the fun and camaraderie. F.Y.I. the Grand
Masters one day class is set for April 17th.
Let’s all do our part to let our Brothers know
about the Shrine and get them signed up for
the Spring Ceremonial!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS: Pay your
dues. Patrolmen, it is April and for some
reason some of you have not paid. I want to
STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to get with
Tony May and get this taken care of. If for
some reason you can not make it to the
meeting, mail the $15 to the office Attn: Arab
Patrol so that Tony can get it recorded.
I wish I could give you more information
on the March Patrol meeting, but I am still
stuck in Mexico at this resort. Please send
more money, I am thirsty and the sand is HOT!
(So are the Senorita’s) L.O.L. Hope to see
you all soon!
The Arab Patrol always remembers our
sick and shut in members. Know that our
thoughts are with you.
Commit to be active in your unit for 2010!

Greetings from the Motor Corp.
The Weather is finally warming up so its
time to get our motors running. We've been
working all winter to get our minis and bikes
ready for the upcoming parade year. Our first
parade will be our spring ceremonial on May
1st. See you there! On the same note, we
would like to welcome new Nobles to our
Motor Corp. and we would like to see more
seasoned Nobles. Our meetings are still the
fourth Friday of the month @ 7:30.pm.
This will be a busy year for the Motor
Corp. Our first major fund raiser will be the
Black Coal Grand Prix on May 16th at the
Vanderburgh 4H center. Please come out
and support that fun event. Until next month,
keep them motors running.

MARINERS WAVES
By: Dwain Mullen / Secretary
Email: [email protected]
The Bridge & Commodore Cory Hollingsworth would like to thank all the Mariners for a
great meeting we had in March. It’s great to
see such a good turnout at our newly
revitalized river camp. The Bridge is committed
and focused on getting the word out to
everyone about all of our upcoming activities.
Thank you to Brian Ball, Divan Rep, with
keeping us up to date with temple events.
With spring right on our doorstep, it is time to
once again “fire up” those grills at the
Evansville Flea Market. We definitely want to
see a lot of participation at this event, the first
weekend of each month! Help support your
club and in turn, your temple. We are also
looking to increase our presence in the tri-state
cooking at other events around the area this
year. All brothers and friends are always
welcome. Please look at your calendar of
events. The coming months are full of activities
that welcome your participation. Please call
Commodore Cory Hollingsworth, or any officer
on the Bridge with any questions.
A good time was had by all at the recent
Potentate’s Ball. A “tip of the fez” goes out to
Illustrious Sir Steve Vessel and his Lady Lynda
for hosting a special one of a kind event. A
great turnout by the Mariners always insures a
night to remember. From the Bridge and the
existing membership, we would like to
welcome all new Mariners who have joined the
club this year. The Bridge would like to see a
full ship of the old and the new with a greater
attendance at every meeting and event. I
encourage all members to get active in what
we are doing in 2010 and have a “voice”!
Welcome aboard the Mariners Club!
Mark Your Calendars:
4/2-4/4: Flea Market. 4/15: Circus Ad Sales
Kickoff at Temple, 6:00PM (very important).
4/17: Temple 100 YR Anniversary Party. 4/17:
One Day Masonic Class (sorry, date wrong
last month). 4/21: Mariner monthly meeting.
4/27: Temple Stated Meeting. 5/1: Hot Sands
Ceremonial.
The time is upon us to start selling those
much needed ad sales! In the past few years,
the commissions we have earned from these
sales have given our club much needed
revenue to support our club and great temple.
Onion Sales are coming up. Get with Scott
Young for all your onion needs. Delivery is set
for May 7th. I want to re-emphasize that our
monthly meetings are at the river camp the 3rd
Wednesday of every month.
We do not want to leave any Mariner
behind on shore this year! The Mariners want
to also remember our fallen & sick members.
Although theie presence is missed and
remembered, we all stand by their side. The
Mariners continued focus is and always will be
to give a 100% in any job we take on and
generate revenue for our club to help the
temple and the hospitals in any way possible!
Our mission is to proudly display “Having Fun,
Helping Kids!” The Mariners always “extend
an open invitation” and welcome any new or
current Hadi Noble to join our great club which
has rapidly grown in membership and been a
vital part to the temple’s family tree? ! Jump in
the boat, sit back and enjoy the ride! The
Mariners voyage looks to be fun and exciting!
“We ride; we don’t march in the parades!”
Let’s continue making 2010 a great and
rewarding voyage!!
“Don’t Miss the Boat”!

HADI HIGHLANDERS
Bill Standring P P
Greetings to all from a bunch of swell
guys….the pipes and drums O’Hadi.
We are still meeting every Wednesday at
7 pm in our splendid quarters at the Shrine.
We have openings for Shriners wishing to play
Pipes or Drums. We are still having great
practices and having fun. Drop by and have a
wee dram while you check us out. We also
have some used kilts that makes this a bit
more affordable for new members.
We are preparing for a full evening for St
Patricks Day with five appearances planned
…starting in the Arabian Room at 6:30.
Don’t forget to sell ONIONS…..It’s a
good fund raiser for the Shrine and
Highlanders.
HADI FUNSTERS
By Van “Jasper” Haas
The Funsters continue to keep busy with
events. Always a little slow at the start of the
year and now the events are picking up, which
is good. Keeps some of us out of trouble and
off the streets. We were just asked to entertain
again at the Otters this next season which
starts in May. There will be about 50 games.
We blow balloons and paint faces and have a
great time. We meet lots of nice and
interesting people. We have also started to
entertain at the Giant Flea Market and have
done well. The kids and the vendors enjoy us
being there.
We had our annual Ladies night on the
28th. The food was absolutely great. Many
thanks and kudos to Chad and his entire staff
for a very fine job for our dinner.
Congratulations to Dan “Kupcake”
Hardwick for receiving Funster of the Year
Honors for 2009. Also, congrats to Jamie
“Cinco” Jones for receiving the “Horses”
Award. There is a story “behind” that, but you’ll
have to ask him about it.
Bob “Rooster” Brown also received a
couple of “awards” that evening as well.
The Funster meeting room that we share
with the Horse Patrol is now being totally
renovated. Our thanks to Rod McDonald, Ron
Forney, Herman Stock, Jim Kanzler, Jim
Shekell, Jamie Jones and all the crew for all
their hard work and efforts. It’s going to be a
fine room once everything is completed.
If you or any of your friends want the
Funsters at your event, please call me at 8585606 or 573-6820.
By the way, what color does a smurf turn
if you choke it? Just wondering…….

I am honored to be serving as Hadi Parade
Marshal in the ensuing year.
I would encourage you to be in
attendance of as many of these events as
possible. As Shriners, we need to be seen.
SEE YOU THERE!
DRUM CORPS BLASTS
By Jerry Minto
The lovely season of Spring is now upon us (we hope) and with
the blooming flowers and growing grass comes parade season. Let’s
get those horns, drums, cymbals and uniforms in tip top shape for the
upcoming season. It might not be a bad idea to come down on Friday
for a little practice to work out the Winter kinks.
A big “Thank You” to all the members who got out of bed before
dawn to fry sausage for the YMCA’s Pancake Days. This is an annual
endeavor by the D & B and I am sure the YMCA appreciates it very
much. Also, we wish to thank Hadi Temple for the use of the kitchen
and cooking equipment.
We have increased our order for onions this year so we need
each & every member to make every effort to sell additional onions.
This fund raiser benefits not only your Shrine but also your unit.
The Circus Ad Kickoff will be held on April 15th, so be sure and
line up those ads for this years circus.
A great time was had by a large group of nobles at the annual D
& B “Buck Night” held at Funkhouser American Legion. Thanks to
everyone who had a part in making this enjoyable activity a success.
The Drum & Bugle would like to welcome the newest member
of our unit. Will Brenner was initiated during the month of February
and we would like to give him a hearty welcome into our fold. Will’s
late father John was a faithful member & a Past President of our unit.
The hospitality room at the Potentate’s pre-ball was a great
success and we owe a Thank You to everyone who planned and
participated in the set-up of the room. Those who attended
appreciated it very much.
Hope to see everyone at the April stated meeting which will be
held on April 9th. Let’s make every effort to be in attendance.
Hope to do this again next month and bring you the past and
future happenings of your Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m.
The Hadi Hospital Staff will be spearheading a fundraiser
for the benefit of the Shriners Hospitals for Children and we
need your help to make it successful.
As you know, we transport many children to the hospitals in our
area and our funds are desperately low. We are going to be
conducting a fundraiser using Avon products starting approximately
March 1, 2010 and running until April 10, 2010. The sale of these
products from pre-printed flyers will generate some badly needed
funds for our Transportation Fund and the Hospitals. We have almost
2000 members in the Hadi Shrine Temple and we need everyone to
participate if possible.
Each Unit, Club and Organization will have a Fundraiser
Coordinator for this fundraiser. Please contact your unit coordinator
for additional information.
If each of you sells $150 of the products (10 sales at $15 each)
we will receive between 30 & 35% of the total net sales. That would
make this a very successful fundraiser.
$9.00
$9.00 Per Person (all you can eat catfish)
Children under 10 yrs.. $5.00
Net proceeds from this fundraiser are for the benefit
of the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
