of the oldest beverages to be produced by humans. Dating back to Mesopotamia, people have been
making beer for as long as they have been making bread. Ancient Egyptians and Monks alike have all come
to the same conclusion, that most everyone like to sit back and enjoy a cold one now and again. Though
we no longer rely on spontaneous fermentation, some have honed the skills to brew what are truly some
exceptional and unique brews. What better way to absorb the culture than with a brewery tour? Each guest
will enjoy a tour of the brewery and flight or a pint at each location.

history. Tour may include a stop at the award winning 55,000 square foot Sleepy Poet or Phillips Place
where you’ll find outstanding restaurants, exquisite home furnishings, specialty retail and apparel along an
inviting main street of beautiful flowers, park benches, fountains, and Old World charm.
B LUE R IDGE
The Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Asheville are home to thousands of beautiful cascades, trails and
peaks. But a must see in the region is Grand Father Mountain at 5,946 feet (1,812 m), it is the highest peak on
the eastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains and one of the major chains of the Appalachian
Mountains. The nature walks and trails will take you through forests and meadows or, if you choose rugged
terrain navigated by ladders, the breathtaking views will leave you speechless.
Guests will also have an opportunity to visit The Mile High Swinging Bridge, America’s highest suspension
footbridge, was built to give visitors easy access to the breathtaking view from Grandfather Mountain’s
Linville Peak. The 228-foot suspension bridge spans an 80-foot chasm at more than one mile in elevation.
Surveys show that the journey to the other side is always considered the highlight of a trip to Grandfather
Mountain.
Guests will picnic enjoying 360 degree views, get a glimpse of wild life at the nature preserve and enjoy
snacks and shopping at local shops as they descend the mountain.

Charlotte screams of NASCAR and the Lowe’s Motor Speedway continues to set the standard in
motorsports excellence. The Lowe’s Motor Speedway is the home of the Coca Cola 600, NASCAR's
toughest test of man and machine; the UAW/GM 500, and many more. Enjoy the close up look at the
areas you don't see when the cars and drivers are battling for points and position. You will go behind the
scenes to the garages, visit pit row, and stand in the same victory circle that has hosted Richard Petty, Bill
Elliott, Buddy Baker, Dale Earnhardt, Harry Gant, Jeff Gordon and other stars of NASCAR. Enjoy a trip to the
Speedway's Winston Theater and enjoy a video presentation of the facilities history. Be sure to set a little
time aside to enjoy the Speedway's Winston Cup Gift Shop, which offers a huge selection of Charlotte
Motor Speedway and drivers souvenirs. Guests will also enjoy lunch at the Speedway Club overlooking the
infield.

This tour provides a fascinating look at architecture new and old. This tour will take you back in time to
experience life the way it was from the 1880s to 1930s. Whatever you fancy, you are sure to find Charlotte’s
Historic homes to be both beautiful and interesting. From their wonderfully designed homes, to their
historic backgrounds, you are sure to find a favorite.
Stops on this tour may include:
Historic Hezekiah Alexander Home – Visit the oldest still existing home in Charlotte. Hezekiah Alexander
was a signer of the Mecklenburg County Declaration of Independence. The stone home has 8 periodfurnished rooms, a kitchen building and a Spring House building.
Historic Rosedale – The home of Archibald Frew, an early Charlotte tax collector. The Caldwell and
Davidson families also lived in the home. Now owned and operated by a private foundation, this turn of the
century home boasts original wallpaper in three rooms.

Travel through a city filled with art while you wonder at the beauty of the “brightest jewels” in Charlotte’s
cultural crown! Highlights include the Mint Museum of Art, Mint Museum of Craft and Design, Havey B.

of Modern Art and the McColl Center Visual Arts.

Walking through the Carolinas Aviation Museum you will learn all about historical aircrafts with their
collection of commercial, civil and military equipment. The museum collections include magazines,
technical manuals, flight manuals, documents, books, photographs, scale models, engineering drawings,
uniforms (textiles), and multi-media. Using interactive displays for visitors of all ages, you can actually climb
into the pilot’s seat of their F4 Phantom!
Some of the aircrafts include: The Savoia Marchetti, the Grumman F-14D, Tomcat, the D-558-1 Skystreak,
and the CH-46C Sea Knight.
The prized exhibit – US Airways Flight 1549 – which took off from LaGuardia airport for a flight to Charlotte
and as a result of multiple bird strikes was forced to land on the Hudson River.
After leaving the museum, you will be taken to the best secret spot in the City to see actual planes that are
coming into the Charlotte Douglas Airport. Tour includes: Escort, admission, and transportation.

Take in the breathtaking views at Daniel Stow Botanical Garden. Enjoy Annuals, Perennials, a butterfly
garden and an herb garden are highlights of this 18,000 square foot, 18 bed garden. Over 3,000 varieties of
plants are grown here.
Enjoy a guided tour through the Botanical gardens and learn so much! After your tour, take time to visit the
Gift and Garden shop!

The Billy Graham Library is a 40,000 square foot family friendly complex where guests will see the newly
constructed library, the Graham Family home place, a bookstore, and café. Visitors will journey through
history, from Billy Graham’s humble beginnings on the family dairy farm to beloved worldwide evangelist
and one of the most respected men in history. The dairy-barn styled Library is home of state-of-the-art
exhibits, multimedia displays, and films, all designated to appeal to casual visitors, spiritual seekers,
researchers, historians, and schoolchildren. The centerpiece of the library is “A Journey of Faith,” a program
that features multi-media displays and recreations of important moments in the life of Billy Graham and his
ministries. Spanning the decades from the 1940s to the present, the exhibits show how Billy Graham
worked to spread God’s message to those far and wide. The library bookstore gives visitors the chance to
shop for unique treasures in “Ruth’s Attic,” a boutique named for Graham’s late wife, Ruth. You may also
relax on a wooden bench to take in the pastoral scenes Billy Graham enjoyed in his youth. After you’ve
thoroughly explored the library, you may enjoy lunch on your own at the Graham Brothers’ Dairy Barn,
which serves southern favorites and light lunch fare.
