This time of the year is wondrous for the children. They crave and thoroughly enjoy the opportunities to welcome their families into their classrooms for celebrations and activities of
various sorts. All of the teachers and the administration are very encouraged by the parents'
enthusiastic participation at the International Day Celebration and we want to say a big
“THANK YOU”. The classrooms were buzzing with joy and delight. The momentum continues as the day draws closer to the winter recital. Happiness fills the air every day as the
children can’t wait to practice their songs. They come up with a little more that they can add
to the artwork they are preparing that fills the classroom décor. My sincere thanks to all of
the teachers and staff for their continued hard work and support. We hope to see you all on
that day as teachers and children can’t wait to show you what they have been practicing.
We hope the finale is just as good.
We want to thank all of the New World families for their love and support towards staff and
administration. May peace and joy be with you and your families as we culminate year
2016 and welcome 2017.
Cheers!

The Holiday Get Together winter recital is a very special
event the school puts together each year to give an opportunity for all the New World families to congregate and enjoy
beautiful music produced by our children. The performances
will take place in your child’s classroom on ____________.
The school will be closed at 4:30pm after the last performance. Please see below for your child’s class recital schedule. This is especially planned for our parents so we encourage everyone to make this a family day and come watch our
children perform.
From observation to activity;
from the concrete to the abstract.
“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always
to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.”
-Dr. Maria Montessori
Outcomes are important to consider when choosing an
educational path for your child. What are the skills you
expect your child to acquire before they leave NWMS?
In Montessori, children are provided an environment to
discover knowledge. They are given concepts, lessons,
materials and the freedom to explore for themselves.
Their teachers are mentors who guide them through their
daily tasks. Where does all this exploration and discovering lead them?
Come to this Parent Education Evening, facilitated by our
elementary teachers ____, ______ and _______, to learn
about Montessori outcomes and how we get the children
there.
Holiday is not only a time that we should think
about giving to our loved ones but also to think
about those in the city that are forgotten, the homeless. The children really are our future, and the
present is the perfect time to instill the importance
of helping others by involving them in the littlest
actions they can contribute. In addition to parents
helping to gather backpacks this year, we want our
children to be involved with this activity. Therefore,
we are hosting a "backpack stuffing event" at New
World on ______________ for our students of
Toddler class, Transitional Preschool, Preschool,
and Elementary.
Parents are encouraged to bring in as many items
as they can from the suggested list emailed to you,
and the teachers, together with the children, will
stuff the backpacks and label them with the appropriate gender (if applicable). It is entirely possible
to reach our goal of stuffing 8-10 backpacks per
classroom if each child can bring in 5-10 items. All
the teachers are enthusiastically excited to contribute to this great cause and we hope you will help
us reach our goal!!
Happy Holidays to all!

for each child to bring in one apple. They will of course
cover other topics such as: how leaves change colors,
and they will also learn about different holidays people

your toddler in this very busy month. Overload of sugar,
noise, activity or gifts can create anxiety instead of
peace, love or joy as may have been intended.

Happy December Room 1 Families,
The month of December is here, and we begin to feel the chill in the air. We
had a wonderful November! The children enjoyed celebrating International Day and
learning about Argentina! Special thank you to Camilla Healy for all her help putting
together the traditional Argentinian menu, books, the flag and all the history of Argentina. I would like to thank Ms. Angela for all her hard work with the art projects,
and decorating our classroom. We appreciate the joint effort of all the parents and your contributions and
the time you spent with us traveling and exploring the world in one afternoon. Thank you from the bottom
of our hearts. We love you all!
The month of December will be busy. In the short time before Winter break, the children will be busy
rehearsing their songs, making projects, and decorating the classroom for the Winter Recital. Please
mark your calendars and join us for the children's much awaited performance on Friday, December 10th.
Room 1 and Room 2 will be performing together, we look forward to seeing you all there!
This month we will be learning about Winter in different parts of our country. We will talk about the
parts of a fish, we will talk about plants. We will have lessons on some simple science experiments with
solids, liquids and gases. We will also have a lesson on Antarctica and Canada.
Parents, please dress your child appropriately at this time of the year. And please bring a sweater or
jackets that has your child's name on it. Thank you!
It has been a great start of the school year working with your children. Ms. Angela and I look forward
to what the new year brings.
We wish you all a Happy Holiday!

(hello and thank
you) to all for making our
International Day Celebration so remarkable. We had
so much fun learning some words, counting from
1-10, learning some of the Thai culture like bowing with hands together close to heart to greet
one another, taking shoes off when entering
homes and temples. We also learned some of the
games children play in Thailand. The children
took pleasure in decorating our room with flags,
maps, elephants, tok tok (transportation), temples, flowers and naming exotic fruits and placing
them on boats as our take on the Bangkok floating market. Thank you to all our generous families who donated delicious foods and refreshing
drinks that everyone truly enjoyed.
Special
thanks to Itura (Michael's mom) for taking time to
share with us some of her many talents, such as,
teaching us how to make toys out of palm leaves,
and teaching us a few steps of Thai cultural
dance.
In the short time before the holidays we are working hard to learn the songs for the Winter Recital
and decorating our room for another exciting
event. Because of the beautiful weather we so
luckily enjoy in California it is time to talk about
winter time in different places. We will also continue our study of the continents, focusing on North
America, Antarctic and the Arctic region.
It is also a time for us to talk about what "Thank
You" really means.
In just a few months since school started and the
children have already accomplished so much.
They continually bring an eagerness to work and
learn, take on responsibilities, challenges, and
choices. We are so proud of them.
It is a wonderful time of year, and we wish everyone a happy holiday season. We are are grateful
for the time we have gotten to spend with each of
these beautiful children and their wonderful families.
The best of the New Year to all!
We look forward to seeing everyone back in January.
-Room 2 Teachers
Happy December! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration and a great mini break. Thank you to everyone who contributed to
our International Day feast. Italy really turned out to be great success. The
children were able to try new foods from Italy and then travel to the other
countries in the school to try their food as well.
In the month of December the children will be learning about the winter holidays & learn
about the different traditions that come with each holiday. Our continent for the month of December will be Antarctica and we will also be studying our neighbors to the north, Canada. Our Physical Geography and Earth Science will be focused on the season of winter, also the elements of
Earth (earth, water, & air). Our Physical Science of the month will be solid experiments. Our Life
Science will be the study of fish. Rounding out the science studies will be our Life Science study
on different kinds of plants.
Our artist of the month will be Frida Kahlo and our musician of the month will be Beethoven. We already listen to a lot of Beethoven when we have quiet work time or when we are napping. The children already have a great appreciation of his music and we are looking forward to
learning more about him as a person.
We want to wish everyone in our class and their families a very happy holiday season and
a healthy new year. We are very happy to have everyone in our class this year. We are truly
blessed to have such wonderful children that surround us every day. We love you all.

Thankful November!!
The month of November
was very productive. We
learned a lot about India and
China. The kids made all the 8
projects and posters by writing,
coloring, painting and crafting.
The children had lots of fun and learned about the
different cultures of both India and China. Thank you to
all the parents for all the yummy food for the International Day. A special thank you to Shyama’s mom
Swarna for helping with the display items and for sharing the beautiful dresses. Thank you to Terra, our room

each of our wonderful parents it would not been possible. A big THANK YOU to all!!!
Plymouth Rock for the first time, and how the two
groups worked together to build a new future. Our little
friends also became thankful for the things they have.
Children were proud to announce what they are thankful for. The most popular answers included: “My Mommy, Daddy, my sister, my home” and our favorite answer was, “My teachers!” We are thankful for YOU too!
The kids made a Thankful Tree as a craft going along
with the story of the 1st Thanksgiving and being thankful.
We have continued working hard in all the areas
of the classroom, and we definitely see the results when
our children are turning into young mathematicians and
readers and are so proud to bring those books home to
read to you.
