Create a Document Default Typing Options Activity 2: Creating a New Document Create new document o On the File tab, select New and double-click Blank document o Note name of the document on the Title Bar Enter Text o At the current insertion point, type Welcome to Binghamton University! And press Enter o Press Enter again to insert a blank line o Type “Welcome to our first monthly newsletter! Inside you can view our history, schools, tour schedule and learn about our advanced learning facilities.” o Observe that the text automatically wraps onto the next line. Replace the text advanced learning with innovative living. o Press Backspace until the text is deleted and then type the new text Close the document without saving Document Views Activity 3: Opening and Displaying Documents in Different Views In Beginning in Word folder, open Binghamton University Draft.docx Display document in different views o Select the View tab o In the Document Views group, observe the highlighted view. Verify that the Replace text as you type box is checked In the Replace text box, type “at”, then scroll down the list to the entry atthe to verify that it should be replaced with “at the” Select OK to close the dialog box Display formatting marks in the document o On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, select the Show/Hide button Press Enter twice Type the following poem using Line Breaks: o Roses are red (press Shift + Enter) Violets are blue (press Shift + Enter) Sugar is sweet (press Shift + Enter) and so are you! Zoom Options Activity 10: Using Zoom Options Make sure Our Binghamton University Draft.docx is open Set magnification levels using the Zoom slider (located bottom right) o On the Zoom slider, click the Zoom In button until the magnification level is 130% o Drag the Zoom slider until the magnification level is 75% Set magnification levels using Zoom group o On the View tab, in the Zoom group, select 100% to set the magnification to 100% o In the Zoom group, select the Zoom button to open the Zoom dialog box o Under the Zoom to, select 80% and click OK to apply the new level Apply the magnification of your choice Help Activity 11: Finding Help in Word Make sure Our Binghamton University Draft.docx is open Open Help o Select the Microsoft Word Help (F1) button on the ribbon Perform a keyword search for Save o In the Word help window, in either of the Search text boxes, type save o In the Search Results pane, select the first entry in the list to open the article o Read the information about saving in Word o On the Word Help toolbar, select the Back button to go back to the search results Use Table of Contents to find information about getting started in Word o On the Word Help toolbar, select the Show Table of Contents button o In the Table of Contents pane, select Beginning in Word to expand the topic o Select any article to read View Help topics on the Home page o On the toolbar, select the Home button Close Our Binghamton University Draft.docx
