Importing Signum Text (.txt) Files into Microsoft Excel
Introduction
E-mail Sample Point Export
One of the many benefits of SignumTM is the ability to extract
analysis result data from the application. This Signum Tip explains
how to export data from Signum and import these files into
Microsoft Excel.
This is a listing of the sample points you have registered in Signum.

rill down into your Account and click the Sample Point

view.

You can narrow the listing by performing a Search on this
view. Click the Search button and narrow your search based
on the fields available in the search form. Multiple sample
points can be searched for using «spaceorspace» in the field
to separate selections (e.g. Unit ID = «10 or 11 or 12»).

nce the sample points searched for are in view, click the

E-mail Sample Point Export button.

he .txt file export will be sent to the e-mail address in your

Contact record.
E-mail Data Exports

From the Home Page, in the Account section, click the Results
icon. This will take you to the My Results view for that account.

he results for the sample points in the list will be exported.

You can narrow this list by performing a Search on this view.
In the My Results view, click the Search button, enter your
search criteria and click Go.

nce your search is complete, click the E-mail Data Export

button.

nter the date range to process. If the date fields are left blank,

all sample results based on your search criteria will be
included.
lick Go. The .txt file export will be sent to the email address in

your Contact record.

Import the Files into

Retrieve the email you received from Signum.

ave the file to your hard disk in a folder where you can find it

easily.

Open a new Excel spreadsheet.

Go to File and Open.

Change File Type to Text Files:

Locate File and Open.

hange Delimiters to Other and insert | (typically «Shift + \»)

into the «Other» field. Then click Next.

lick Finish.

Data will be displayed in the Excel spread sheet. Sort, adjust
column width, etc. as needed.

Save File as a Microsoft Excel file.
nce the file is Opened, the Text Import Wizard will pop up.

Make sure Delimited is selected, then click Next.
