MEN’S WEEKEND RETREAT – JUNE 2 – 4, 2017 “Called to Be a Servant for the Lord Coming Along?” Voters Assembly—Hope Members age 18+ Monday, June 19 at 7:15 p.m. Invited Speaker/Discussion Leader on this theme of this retreat is the Rev. Keith Johnson, Pastor Emeritus, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Agenda includes board reports, plus 17-18 budget presentation. The purpose of our Retreat “…is to bring together Christian men for a weekend of spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, & outdoor fun so that we are refreshed and better equipped to live as men who are followers of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.” Opportunity: In its March meeting, Church Council passed a motion suggested by our Vision Team that Hope congregation participate in the Transforming Church Network’s (TCN) 19:10 Project. The 19:10 Project will bring a team of experienced church leaders to Hope to assess our congregation's health, vitality, strengths, and weaknesses by gathering information from about ourselves and our community, meeting with focus groups, and conducting interviews. The team will then present, during the weekend of June 23-25, a prescription of five goals for us to accomplish which should help us to revitalize our mission. One of those goals include the making of a fresh vision. Needs: The cost of this program is $5,200. Because this item was not included in the budget for the current fiscal year, we are asking each of you to consider making a donation above and beyond your normal giving in order to pay for this vital step in the life of Hope Lutheran Church & School. Please designate "TCN" on your church envelopes as your special offering toward this endeavor. Further questions about the TCN 19:10 Project can be directed to Tom Jeske (215-630-5517) or Tom Marks (215-317-2878). We are also asking for your prayers that God will use this process and lead us in the direction that He wants us to go. STEWARDSHIP SNIPPET: 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” God has called us to be His own. He has chosen us out of love, out of mercy, out of sheer, divine joy. The Apostle says that God has done this that we may share in His glory and joy, that we may “proclaim the excellencies of Him” who has made us His own. And truly, this is our delight! His joy brings joy in our hearts as well. Great Food, Great Friends, and Great Fellowship are to be had at the 71st Annual Men’s Retreat at Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center, Angola, NY. Registration begins Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM and the Retreat closes with Sunday brunch at 11:30 AM. Further information and registration forms are posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. Contact Rich Gruenhagen at 215-741-0482 for additional information. In the season opener, Hope squared off against longtime rival Woodside. The opponent immediately jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the 1st as Hope's displayed some shaky defensive play behind starting pitcher Curt Fuller. Hope's offense came to life in the 3rd as CJ Fuller's long home run in to the right field woods triggered a 4 run rally that got Hope back into the game at 6-5. Hope continued to score in every inning but could not shut down the powerful Woodside line-up. Angelo Menta contributed a home run and 3 RBIs, and Chris Urban went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate while playing a solid 3rd base defensively.
