It’s like going into a world where everyone understands you. Every aspect of your needs is accommodated and nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. Their care is above and beyond. I particularly love the company at Leuchie and have made some great friends there over the years. Every time I leave I can’t wait for my next ‘Leuchie time’! Anne, Leuchie guest Seeing the change in my wife over our 11 nights at Leuchie has been tremendous for me. While we’ve been here she has become brighter and full of smiles again. I can’t remember when I last felt as relaxed and at ease with the world as I do at the moment. Delmar, husband of Leuchie guest The best thing about working at Leuchie House is that there’s always a smile to be seen and laughter to hear. The guests are so friendly and by day two everyone is like an old friend. One of the fun parts for me is seeing guests try things they don’t think they will be able to do and visit places that they wouldn’t otherwise get to see. Kim, Leuchie’s guest engagement manager It is an awesome, inspirational place where guests can be who they really are and limited ability is seen as a challenge to be overcome rather than a blockage to activities. It is a real joy to work with dedicated, caring people who simply make things happen for the guest and carer. Janina, Leuchie volunteer 7 Personalised 24 hour care Trusting your care to others can be daunting. At Leuchie House, we have extensive experience of providing respite breaks for people with a wide range of long term complex conditions, so you can be confident that you will have exactly the care you need, 24 hours a day. Our expert nursing team are on duty at all times so you’ll know your medical care is in safe hands. They are supported by our dedicated care assistant team who will look after your personal care, accompany you on outings and do everything they can to make your break the best it can be. Leuchie House is registered with the Care Inspectorate and we undergo rigorous regular inspections, for your added peace of mind and security. 8 Tailored to your needs Physiotherapy From the time you book a break at Leuchie, we’ll start to put together a personal care plan for you. We’ll ask you to provide information about your condition, medication and care needs. This will help make sure Leuchie is right for you and, if so, means we can start putting in place the care package you need. One of our nursing team will phone you before your break to talk through any concerns you have and go into more detail about your needs so that your care plan is ready when you arrive. One of the things which makes Leuchie House unique is our complimentary physiotherapy service, open to all our guests. Experience of complex conditions We have welcomed people with a wide range of long term physical conditions for respite breaks at Leuchie over the years. These include multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, cerebral palsy, spinal injuries and stroke. If you have a different condition to those listed, we are always happy to discuss this on an individual basis to assess whether we can meet your needs. Leuchie House has open access so we regret we are unable to take a booking for anyone requiring secure accommodation. In our well-equipped physio suite, our expert physiotherapists can work with you on a one-to-one basis over the course of your break, and can even give you advice on a programme to follow at home. They can also help with wheelchair assessments and adjustments to improve your comfort and wellbeing. The team run fun exercise and relaxation classes you can take part in too during your stay. Counselling We can arrange counselling and emotional support if you would find this helpful. The standard of care is very high. We’re basking in pleasure at the memory of last week’s visit. 9 The house, grounds and facilities Leuchie House and grounds Bedrooms One of the most obvious things that makes Leuchie unique is the house itself. The building is a classical country mansion house dating from 1779. As you come up the driveway through the grounds, we hope you’ll feel you’ve come to somewhere very special. Our seven single and eight twin bedrooms are light and spacious with electric profiling and height adjustable beds. You’ll have your own nurse call system and personal alarm. The building has been completely refurbished to make it fully accessible and a welcoming comfortable environment for all our guests. The large and airy public rooms have stunning views across the grounds and are full of interesting original features. The extensive grounds around the house add to its beauty and tranquillity and are home to lots of wildlife. 10 Single rooms are allocated by the nursing team on a care needs basis. We also have three carer’s bedrooms, separate from our guest rooms. While there’s no need to bring a carer or family member with you, you are very welcome to if you’d like to enjoy a break together. We’ll take on all the caring responsibilities so you can both have a relaxing break. If you have a live-in partner, they will be eligible for a carer’s assessment. If you don’t have a social worker, contact the duty social worker at your local authority for advice. There is often a waiting list for assessments so we recommend you get in touch with them as soon as possible. 26 Charity and benevolent association support If you aren’t eligible for local authority funding, or need it topped up from another source, there are a number of charities, trusts and benevolent associations that may be able to help you.
